we just came from the house where it is still smoking but the fire has been knocked down and let's goo a picture that the fire department had tweeted earlier this morning, you can see flames were shooting out of the windows which were fully involved when fremont firefighters were involved. this was just before 4:30 and they do confirm it was the garage that was on fire and that's where they believe the fire started. two cars were parked in the driveway and also caught fire and it ended up extending into the attic and the flames also touched the adjacent house. the five people who were living inside a family of four had a friend staying with them, they got out safely so did one dog and another dog died in the fire. they were able to knock down the fire in about 40 minutes so it is under control but there is still smoke around, lots of charred debris and they are in shock and they want to know what happened and they asked if they heard the smoke alarms and they said they didn't hear the smoke alarms at all. we will stay on top of it and you will hear from a neighbor who saw all of this

soaked soil is causing more trees to topple over and knock out some power to people across the bay area. tara moriarty is in oakland where crews spent hours removing a tree and oh, boy, the damage to the cars over there. >> they have moved on to their next end didn't and honestly, they have caused a lot of problems and an enormous tree fell right on top and they were able to chop it, get it out of the way. it also impacted a street light and it is now missing and actually laying on the ground this caused quite a bit of damage and the wood chipper caused a lot of problems and the tree fell last night around 10:30. the tree fell on top of those cars and luckily nobody was hurt. pg&e worked through the night to restore power and it looks like they have their lights on now. this is the second storm system this week. we store plunging temperatures between one and one and a half inches of rain and the rain is obviously saturating the ground quite a bit and we are expecting it to go down and we have received another part of this falling. that is coming up in our next report. ktvu channel 2 mor
