we're live in old town alexandria, ko im, 9news. back to you. >> thank you, ko. >>> the monocacy river in frederick county, maryland continues to show force. sky 9 is giving us a bird's eye view of just how high that water is there. homes and trees are submerged and at the airport the power of the river flipped a plane. kristin fisher spent the morning surveying the damage. >> reporter: it's bad here but getting better. this is the monocacy river, the river that runs underneath i- 70, up through the national battlefield and up to write am now, pine cliff park. you can see this park still completely under water. this is the main roadway into the park. the water is up to the street sign. beyond that, there are three play grounds in this park, all of them partially subamericanned. farther to your right, you can see the red roof of one of seven pa ville beans in this -- pa villains in this park. all seven of them, the water is beyond the roof. there are five baseball fields completely under water. two men had to be rescued when their raf

. >> 9news now ko im is live in alexandria with a look at the potomac this morning. good morning, ko. >> reporter: good morning, matt. behind us is the potomac. it's expected to crest tomorrow evening well above flood levels. that's why a flood warning has been extended until friday afternoon. right where we're standing on king and south union streets, if i had been here yesterday morning, the water would have seeped into my rain boots. so right now is low tide that's why you're not really seeing anything. let's give you a picture of what we saw yesterday. the water coming up to union streets. today it is expected to maybe go all the way to lee street. so people yesterday here were taking pictures in the water. right now we're seeing signs of do not enter. some caution tape and some roads blocked off. this is a time we want to share with you a couple of tips. we've been talking about flood warnings all week and before if you haven't prepared yet, we wanted you to elevate any water heaters, electronics like that and also to prevent any water from seeping into your base

. >> ko im is live in alexandria with the conditns there. good morning, ko. >> reporter: good morning, matt and andrea. old town is located on the west bank of the potomac. it is expected to flood tonight. maybe even crest a couple feet above water. dr alexandria was able to escape major flooding issues. we did see some minor flooding monday and we saw how high the water can get yesterday morning around high tide. if you haven't prepared already, we want to show you this is an example to follow. this clothing store in downtown old town alexandria has put up some plastic right in front of the door. this is the way to do it. stack these sandbags so that if you can, they're staggered. there's no gaps in between. of course lay them flood so that they don't fall over. so this is pretty sturdy and hopefully the store won't see any water dampen some of the clothes inside. as far as history, we could see the potomac here rise to the highest water levels since 1996. it could go down in the books as one of the top five water level events. as far as ale

right now we want to go to ko im in chesapeake beach. who do you have as your guest and how are conditions fairing now? >> reporter: good morning, andrea. the rain is pretty much the same. the winds haven't picked up a lot just yet. we're joined this morning by jimmy king. thank you for joining us this morning. how are you? >> i'm fine, thank you. >> reporter: we saw you this morning in your car looking at your charter boat. you have some concerns about that during hurricane sandy? >> sure. just watching the weather, watching the boat, making sure everything is secured. don't want nothing to break or get loose. >> reporter: we talked about isabel and how bad it was for this town. can you tell me what you remember from then? >> yeah. we had high waters, quite a surge. the water was probably about four and a half foot, five foot surge of water in the harbor here. it scoffed the parking lot. it was -- it covered the parking lot. it was pretty extreme. >> are you worried about your home up in north beach? >> a little but more so my boat in t
