koop was appointed. but when the crisis was there, at least dr. koop had the realism to sit before a congressional committee and say that people should be using condoms to save their lives. this', that's his honorable act in history. it was not president reagan's. and it was a tremendous failing. i lived through the '80s. i mean, i think ambivalence is a good condition for writing fiction and poetry. i'm not so sure, history, i don't know. but, you know, i had these tremendously mixed feelings about reagan. i admired a lot of what reagan was doing in the 1980s, particularly in foreign policy, and i was aghast at what was going on in my own world. i was burying my friends, and we were waiting to hear a kind word from reagan. and it was, it was a failing on his part. but people are, you know, they're made up of parts, and i think on the whole reagan's record is going to be judged pretty favorably by history. i personally, you know, one thing the democrats love to do and i think they do it at their political peril, they love telling the american peop

so it's not be amnesia which is like a koop scooby doo not, right? but she has emotional memory loss which means the people she was most connected to, she's forgotten them. so she can walk into a bar, and that guy that she's attracted to, she doesn't know if it was someone she loves or her worst enemy. and everywhere she goes she feels like maybe i wasn't a nice person. she meets people and they say, oh, my gosh, still don't start trouble again. she can restart her life, and i love that as a character, as -- for her character because everything becomes an adventure in that moment x everything is new. and think about it for a moment. don't we all, if we could take a moment, knock ourselves in the held with a hammer and start over and have our lives anew, i would go pick out a really nice army, right? it's just an amazing idea. [laughter] to me, what i loved about it as we came up with it, it paired perfectly with this idea i'd been carrying around for five years, benedict arnold. we all think of him as bad guy of the story, but he's not the bad guy or

thank you so much texas state representative linda koop. i appreciate it. >> sure. thank you so much. >> as more black lives matter protests begin today across the country, i want to bring in now ashton p. woods, a leader of the black lives movement in texas. thank you for your time, ashton, in being with me. i want to start knowing there are protests as we speak right now in certain parts of the country and washington, d.c. and last night of course we reported that the protests there were not that peaceful. we had 100 arrests in minnesota, 21 officers injured across the country and closing of i-94. so is the city of dallas and the state of texas mourns the loss of these five officers, what is the role of black lives matter, especially in dallas and in your state? >> well, first let me say i'm here in houston. i'm an organizer with black lives matter houston. we don't condone bloodshed in the black lives matter movement. for us to say black lives matter is for us to demand that law enforcement stop shedding our blood. so we would never shed blood of someone else if
