and high waves for the southern japanese islands. now over across eastern china, we've seen some very heavy rain. this is the low pressure that's just moving across into the korean peninsula, and that will be bringing rainfall totals of about 100 millimeters into the next 24 hours for the seoul area. certainly very unwanted rain. the land is already saturated. there's been very heavy rain. and extensive flooding in the last couple of weeks. so that will be a concern as we head into the weekend. north of that, in moderate to heavy rain band pushes across northeastern china and into southeastern russia. now, down across indochina, lots of scattered thundershowers here as well. most of the heavy stuff is once again taking aim at northern and northeastern thailand. so here, again, extensive flooding is taking place. and this heavy rain could add to further flooding as well as the possibility of mudslides and landslides. temperatures are going to be set up like this on saturday. about 33 in tokyo. 27 in seoul. 33 also in beijing. 20 in ulambatur. 3 234d chongqing. it's dry and shot and doesn't look like a change in that as we head into the weekend. >>> into north america here,

eastern china. that starts to move into the korean peninsula as well. during the day we could potentially see up to 100 millimeters around shanghai and over the next couple days as well. you can see that rain spreading across the korean peninsula looking at the threat for landslides as well as flooding rains. here we could see more than 200 millimeters. inland china will stay mostly dry for western sections dealing with heat here. 39 degrees in chongqing. 33 in shanghai. tokyo rising to 34 degrees. indeed much of japan will be contending with that high heat and humidity once again. many areas reaching the mid-30s. 35 in fukushima. now as for the americas, storms continue to rumble away in eastern canada. but that system is finally going to be weakening after tonight. as for the midsections of the u.s., also looking quite stormy throughout the night. rain will slowly start to weaken off at the end of central canada. but for the central plains of the u.s., will remain quite stormy. especially for nebraska, the dakotas looking at damaging winds and large hail and torrential downpours. out towards the east and over towards the west, two high pressure systems

the area we're really watching is going to be eastern china as well as into the korean peninsula. we have this boundary system and that's going to be the fuel as we go through, it looks like thursday, more chances for rain. down towards the south, talking very hot, very humid conditions and talking about temperatures being mighty uncomfortable for this time of year. the big hot spot is chongqing. for hong kong, 32. 34 in taipei, in parts of japan, temperatures in the 30s. continue to remain hot there. south of the equator conditions a little cooler, talking through parts of new zealand. look at the area right now, things have settled down. let me show you what it looks like across parts of new zealand, talking about wellington, auckland, these areas are dealing with heavy snowfall. luckily they do have the snowplows out there. they've been quite busy. they said they haven't seen this smuch snow in the christchurch business district in 72 years. keep in mind, for wellington, i think we have more photos as well, this area is it sea level. they haven't seen snow there, some of the residents say, in 90 years. tempera
