it's our live kpix weather camera. do you see it right there? that is a return of the marine layer. it is just off the coast trying to penetrate the bay. and boy, did it make the numbers crash and burn at the beaches today and into the bay in fact san francisco was 15 degrees cooler than yesterday but livermore only 5 degrees cooler wel -- well inland. san jose down to 75 degrees today. tonight bottoming out in the 40s and 50s across the board. a bit breezy out there. we have this ridge of high pressure flatter today sort of stays status quo for you tomorrow until this area of low pressure enhances our marine layer. then we'll begin to see some notable changes by friday and until then, take a look at our futurecast. the low clouds and patchy fog plays tag with the beaches and into the bay begins to retreat by the lunch hour hangs tight to the inverness area, a few high clouds overhead. number-wise, 60s beaches, 60s, 70s across the bay. outside number going with 80 degrees in livermore but just slightly warmer than that

kpix 5 reporter brian webb with the big break in this case. brian. >> reporter: this is the east san jose neighborhood where men do santa -- mendoza was murdered. people believe he was murdered because of the color of his car. the alleged shooter and an alleged accomplice david martinez. the victim, 27-year-old eric mendoza was killed around 3:00 a.m. april 3rd after finishing the late shift at his job. he went out to repark his car. the bullet suddenly came barreling through his car window killing killing mendoza. they go by blue and red. that is the same color as mendoza's car. his uncle spoke right after the murder. >> he made a big mistake. you should be ashamed of yourself. >> reporter: police are still looking for suspects. you see james and isaac martinez. police didn't give us any details on the awe rest. we do know eric mendoza is survived by a situation month- old son. brian webb kpix 5. >>> also, in san jose, police are investigating the 13th homicide of the year. just a couple hours a woman was found stabbed to death in her apartme

[ crying ] >> reporter: chaos at the serramonte medical building. >> somebody fired a gun. >> reporter: police ordered an immediate evacuation, medical personnel and people just visiting their doctors all made to put their hands on their heads and march outside to safety. >> scariest thing i have ever been through. so i don't know, it just was really loud and i was talking to a patient at that time and i said to her, oh, my god, did you hear that? and then next thing i know, that we're on lockdown. >> reporter: the s.w.a.t. team surrounded the building as officers went room to room looking for the gunman. the target, we have learned, was dr. kevin wong, an internist. >> the doctor saw the man with the gun and then he ran out and then the shooting was behind him. but it missed him. >> reporter: as he ran through the parking lot, several employees told them dr. wong warned other employees that there was a man with a gun inside and informed them the gunman was a disgruntled

kpix 5's cate caugiran joins us live from outside the suspect's home. police were back in the neighborhood? >> reporter: yes. this is the suspect's home. we saw police officers here walking around the area and we asked them what exactly they were looking for. they just shook their heads and declined to comment. this is also where the officers took the suspect away last night. he is raymond iwase a man unknown to his neighbors until now. he lived in this daly city neighborhood all his life but never knew, met or heard of suspect 84-year-old raymond iwase until last night when he saw him in handcuffs. >> it was like a s.w.a.t. team out in front of his house and there was detectives in suits down the street. it looked like there was going to be a shootout. >> reporter: iwase in the san mateo county jail booked on suspicion of attempted murder after police say he allegedly fired a shot inside the serramonte medical center wednesday afternoon. >> i'm scared. a lot of police here. >> prayed for protection when i left this morning so i'm okay. >> reporter: pat
