kpix 5's simon perez is in fairfield. what's the latest?reporter: well, we're here on the scene right there at 680 where it meets 80 heading towards sacramento. right in this little cul-de- sac, in this little corner is where the fire started. a little after 3:00 this afternoon. you can see now the crews have got it pretty much under control from what we can see. they are basically in mop-up stage. the cal fire helicopters have not been by in at least 15, 20 minutes now. so it does look as though they do have a lot of it under control. you can see from some video from earlier that it was out of control earlier. when we showed up, flames were shooting about 30, 40 feet up into the air. one house is gone as we speak. we do know that several neighborhoods several streets had to be evacuated including the homes and the people who live on ritchie road. there was a fear that it was going to get on 680 as well and that's why they shut down 680 northbound for a time. it did re-open at about 5:20 this afternoon. now, this fire because of the wind as
