kpix 5's keit do joins us live at the scene with more on the rescue efforts there. kiet, good morning >>> reporter: good morning. we're live here at a cluster of commercial buildings right at the junction of highway 24 and 680 this morning in walnut creek. emergency construction crews are right now working to shore up and secure the building, which has a gaping hole where they pulled that vehicle out. the scene looks like something out of an earthquake rescue. look at the video. this all happened before midnight when police got into a chase with a bmw. it is unclear why they were following the car in the first place. but it reached speeds of 140 miles per hour. lafayette police reportedly broke off that chase. the bmw was going eastbound on 24 and it took the ramp to 680 southbound but then lost control and flew over the overpass. the car went down an embankment through bushes and across the parking lot about 200 feet or so. then it crashed into the building upside-down ended up inside a yoga studio. firefighters had to shore up that building before going in. it too
