kris? >> kris: a breaking story now. tense moments on an air france flight headed to paris when it was forced to land because of what officials say was a possible bomb onboard. police say that the pilots of the boeing 777 requested an emergency landing in kenya after a suspicious device was found in the bathroom. there were about 500 people onboard that flight. at least six passengers are now being questioned. and breaking overnight: locally, crews battling a fire at a vacant triple-decker in roxbury. this was the scene over on edgewood street. fire spreading to all three of the back porches. fortunately, no one was injured. crews are still trying to figure out what caused this fire. the fire chief estimates the damage to be quarter of a million dollars. crews battling another fire. this one overnight in hull. flames break out on the multi-level home on bay street. you can see the flames there shooting right out of the roof,. no word on if anyone was in the home at the time. the car went crashing into a building in brock

as we go to kris anderson, kris, we do know that there was a young child in this car as well. right? >> kris: one person was killed in this incident. the woman in her 20's, the driver intentionally drove her car on to the crowded sidewalks of the las vegas strip. plowing into dozens of people who are walking along that sidewalk. they say she had a three-year-old in the car. that child, again, was not hurt. the woman, though, left the scene of the accident, then drove to a hotel a few blocks away. police found the car there with a smashed windshield. and that's when they arrested this suspect. witnesses say the woman ignored people who were pounding on the windows, yelling at her to stop. >> we suddenly saw people flying in the air. the car hit them. it was like a bowling ball hitting pins. >> people were punching the window, trying to get the child out of the back seat. she accelerated again and just kept mowing everyone down. >> kris: this tragic ordeal happening in front of the planet hollywood hotel where the miss universe pageant was taking place inside. police believe the

kris van cleave, cbs news washington. eric: right now an entire school district in nashua new hampshire is cancelling classes today because of a threat. the superintendent of the nashua schools say they received a detailed threat of violence to harm students and staff at both high schools. several law enforcement agencies are working to determine the credibility of the threat. elizabeth: a california man is shot and killed in a los angeles emergency room. police were first called to an apartment complex to investigate reports of a man throwing bottles and fighting with neighbors. the suspect struggled with police kicking and punching officers. even knocking a stun gun out of one of their hands. when the man tried to reach for shot and killed him. eric: police in madison, wisconsin are searching for the suspect in a mall shooting. investigators say the violence followed a dispute between a group of young men. a 19-year-old was hurt he was shot in the leg. the gunfire sent holiday shoppers running to safety. police are sear

kris? >> kris: f.b.i. is trying to figure out how long ago this couple was radicalized, but they say it could have happened quite some time ago. officials say tashfeen malik and syed farook had methodically prepared for this attack, often practicing at shooting ranges. their most recent practice session was just days before last week's deadly shootings took place. and in a few chilling new twists now, officials have disclosed that farook's coworkers at the county health department underwent active shooter training in the same exact conference room where he and his wife opened fire, killing 14 people and injuring 21 others. still not clear yet whether farook himself attended that same training session. we have also learned some new details this morning on the explosives that were found inside of that couple's home. officials say 19 pipe bombs were recovered, though not all of them may have been working pipe bombs. a .22-caliber rifle was also found, bringing the total number of firearms recovered in this ca

good morning to you, kris. >> kris: hey, nancy. nicole just mentioned the slowdown potentially for people coming in. here's 93 southbound heading into the city. we're in andover now. you can see traffic is already starting to slow down a bit. because of the snow are not ideal. it's not coming down the n droves. we don't have several inches of snow piling up, but what we have coming down now is this sleety snow mixture, and it's causing a slushy mess out there on the roadways and it's causing for some problems out there. we saw a couple of box trucks spun out on 93 northbound when we were heading up to andover from downtown boston, and they were crashed on to the side of the road. and that's causing some slowdowns and delays on top of what we're experiencing because of the snow and sleet and ice that's forming on the ground, forming as marshall called it, "muck." the snow is giving us an introduction into what we'll be dealing with this winter. it's helping us ease back into the swing of thing, getting us reintroduced to some old fr

kris, those salters will be filling untoday for tomorrow's commute. >> kris: they're going to be busy for the first time, nancy. in fact, these are familiar sights right here. this time of year those two giant salt piles here in weston. anticipation for tomorrow's snowfall expected to be first measurable snowfall in massachusetts. crews will be using this salt to then get the roadways ready to be salted and treated in anticipation of that snow that will be falling. while they're taking care of roadways, you have to take care of yourself, and that means getting rid of all the snow on your driveway and the sidewalks out in front. so that had people flocking to stores yesterday, stocking up on things like shovels and bags of salt and ice melt. and when the first snowfall, which by the way, again, a reminder, just a day away, hits, the salt will be flying off the store shelves quickly. >> last year we sold out of stuff very, very quickly, but we were prepared. we had plenty of stock. we're ready to go. i say bring it. this warm weather is nice, but it's new england. we need the cold. we n

thanks for joining us, i'm kris sanchez. >> i'm scott mcgrew. frustrated moms and dads in one east bay school district pulled their kids out of school for the second day in a row to send a clear message to district leaders to pay the teachers more. stephanie chuang is live in the san lorenzo district where it's happening. stephanie, there is a last-ditch effort before the teachers threaten to strike. show us the time line. >> reporter: there is, kris and scott. this protest, day two, outside the district office is much smaller than it was yesterday, maybe 50, 60 people, half of what we saw yesterday. but the real impact is the number of absences. district was working on the total from yesterday, and is giving that number in a half hour. we'll get that to you later. at last count, 1,200 absences yesterday, four times the normal number, costing the district more than $44,000 in one day. the teachers' union is threatening a strike. it wants a 6.2% base pay raise. while the district says it can only give 1.5%. now here's where the core of the disagr
