i'm christa delcamp. >> kris: and i'm kris anderson. hundreds of thousands of people have already lost power in the hurricane zone. that number is expected to grow as thedy continues and as that storm continues to pound that region. they're facing brutal storm surge and extreme winds all throughout the coming hours. our team coverage begins with meteoris the latest advisory on matthew. >> chris: kris, the space coast of florida will take the hardest hit. satellite beach running 88-mile-per-hour gusts. barefoot beach at 74. vero beach at 71. melbourne at 64. the eye of the hurricane off shore by about 25 miles or so. that's important to the forecast. we've kept the eye wall away from the immediate coastline, however, when you put this into motion, and you can see the spiraling of this eye wall going to pin wheel back and pivot in very close to the space coast, cape canaveral, some of the barrier islands up near that way north of melbourne. this is probably the highest wind gust out of this whole event will be along the barrier island rig

i'm christa delcamp. >> kris: i'm kris anderson in for sarah this noon. the latest info we have on matthew. it is still a powerful category four storm. packing winds of 145 miles per hour. it is also moving north at about ten miles an hour. although it's still days away, the latest update now puts us, new england, in the cone of uncertainty. let's get over the meteorologist chris lambert. he has been tracking matthew storm. >> chris: we are in the cone on day five. that would be on sunday. right now we have a long ways to go to get there, though. the storm right over haiti. it continues its journey off to north. you can see all the hurricane warnings that are in place across the bahamas, hurricane watch in place, across florida and you get closer to miami, there is a tropical storm watch in place. that extends through portions of the keys here. it is going to be a close call with florida. no question, though, this goes right across the bahamas. 145 miles an hour. this will take us through the bahamas as a category three or four hurricane on wednesday into

here's kris anderson. >> kris: good news and bad news if you're south of town. good news, that accident by the o'neill tunnel has cleared. if you go to the maps after looking at the traffic on the expressway, you can see the backup as a result of this earlier accident, quincy and the o'neill tunnel area. it's b split to the tunnel. 3 backed up, as well, 24 connecting with 128 and 95, you're going to have issues all throughout there. the good news here on the pike, it's looking good flew framingham. a little slowdown as you get closer into boston, but in real issues the tell you about. there is an accident 93 southbound at 128 in the woburn area. that's causing some back-ups. another accident north of town, as well, up here in methuen. the accident has the left lane blocked. that's causing problems for you, as well. let's go to the drive times and with if you're walking out the door. 27 minutes. 128 to 93 just 12 minutes. 128 to the zakim, 14 minutes. back to you, guys. >> christa: kris, thank you. your child's dare care with past problems, except you have no ide

here's kris anderson. >> kris: fog not helping traffic this morning. incidents to tell you about, live look outsiding, and here is 93 heading into town. everything looks good when you get to the zakim bridge and leverett connector. there are problems further to the north on 93. we want to show you this on 495 and 93. there is an accident there. and then the here. so the combination of the two could cause some problems there. and then there's another issue on 93 right in medford, another accident right at route 60. so the combination of all that, 495 and 93 could cause some delys mixed in with that fog, as well. leave some extra time there. 24 minutes split to the tunnel. the problem in the carpool lane seems to be cleared out. but there are some back-ups. 3, 24-rbg 95 connecting with 128. you see that backed up on 124. from 495678 but right past framingham you see slowdowns as you approach 128 and then once again at the tollbooth. let's go to those drive times and show you what you're dealing with quickly, anywhere from 21 to 25 minutes. 24 minutes, 12

kris, you see the numbers in the 44 in boston right now. so it's much colder in some of the suburbs where we have a frost advisory until 9:00 a.m. there is a freeze warning in much of worcester county until 9:00 a.m. we start getting into the freeze warning. that generally means you'll get at least a few hours of temperatures at freezing if not below it. cold start, no question about that. but here is the difference: the wind not nearly as strong this morning as what we saw yesterday. the radar is quiet. taking a look at the satellite and radar composite. the high pressure settling on in, and not much of a breeze throughout the day today. that means easily we have an on-shore wind that will develop. so a little bit cooler along the coastline today and tomorrow compared to inland communities by handful of degrees. overall i expect beautiful weather as we get a sunny stretch coming in here over the next couple way, as well. that will allow temperatures to jump up back into the 60s. a nice rebound this afternoon. kids, i don't think i'd argue

kris? >> kris: christa and sarah, this is a powerful storm. people in haiti and cuba are prepping for this category four hurricane. many living near the coast evacuating before matthew can make landfall. the storm could potentially reach cuba by tuesd workers cutting down limbs and trees that are hanging over power lines and nearby homes. just as a precaution at this point. authorities also removed traffic signals to protect them from the wind and get them from being destroyed. across the caribbean, people are bracing for hurricane matthew. families in guantanamo bay evacuated the naval station in cuba there ahead of the storm. prisoners and service members are now staying there. the u.s. weather service says it is the strongest hurricane in the atlantic since 2007. continues to come down on sunday. people tried to push their cars through the flooded streets as the water continued to rise. up to 20 inches of rain could fall while winds continue to pound that area. live here in the newsroom, kris anderson, 7news "today in new england." ism chri
