what are firefighters telling you this morning, kris?fires were separate, far apart, but several families now displaced. there's one injury, however not a fire-related injury, somebody slipped and fell as they were trying to escape. i am at park johnson place in honolulu. the other fire was on east side drive that spread to another property on mckee. that fire went to three alarms. here at park johnson, the fire started outside the home in an outdoor kitchen area and spread into the home itself and spread to part of the home next door. the battalion chief said everybody got out safely because of smoke alarms and because of neighbors looking out for each other. no fire-related injuries, but one person slipped and fell trying to get out. >> there was the yelling, screaming in the front, and as the exposure to the right started, they told that occupant to get out as well. >> reporter: just hours before some of the same firefighters were at this fire on north white road. it shares a property line common with another home on mckee. the fire s

kris? >> hi there, marcus. the unions say holding police and fire to the city's employee vaccine mandate is pulling them off the streets and that is going to impact response times and then in some cases folks who are calling for help may not get it at all. let's take a look at the big picture in terms of the employee vaccination rate. 95% of san francisco's 35,000 employees already got their shots. that leaves about 1,750 workers who are not vaccinated. among them the 120 police officers and seven firefighters. the city human resource department received about 800 requests for religious or medical exemptions but has not approved any so far. for now those officers and other employees who work in high risk settings face termination unless their waivers come through and they are re-assigned. the fire and police unions say this is going to impact response time as calls are prioritized to accommodate lower staffing. however, mayor london breed's office said the department is ready to move officers around in the even

kris van cleave, thank you. tonight, a state of emergency has been declared along the southern california coast, after that offshore pipeline leak that sent more than 125,000 gallons of heavy than crude into the pacific. cbs' lilia luciano reports there are new questions about the response. >> reporter: for nearly 12 hours, the pipeline was spewing oil into the ocean before any action was taken to stop it. the coast guard got reports of an oily sheen on the water late friday night, but they say they didn't have enough information to deploy boats. the pipeline company didn't report the leak until saturday morning. >> approximately 4,000 feet of the 17.7-mile pipeline has been displaced. >> reporter: cargo ships have been backed up along the coast for months. cbs news has learned that the coast guard is examining video to see if a ship dropped anchor in the wrong place and actually dragged the pipeline. >> the pipeline has actually been pulled like a bow string, and at its widest point is 105 feet away from where
