"today in the bay's" kris sanchez is tracking the fire on highway one near optos. >> first meteorologist kari hall has more on the hot week ahead. >> today we're dealing with the mild weather but preparing for a big ramp-up in our temperatures going into the weekend. so now is your time to prepare for the fire danger, and the heat, making that defensible space around your house as well as being prepared for the potential of power outages, as the very dangerous heat comes into the bay area. now we're seeing some of the heat as the excessive heat warnings going up for areas just south of the bay area and this starts on wednesday but continues through tuesday. there will be several days on end where there will be extreme heat across the region. for the bay area, the heat watch begins on saturday and continues through tuesday, so it does come in a little bit later for us, but it will be very hot with the potential of getting up to 110 degrees possible for some of our interior valleys, so during this time, you want to make sure that you're reducing the outdoor activity, you're drinking more w

i'm kris sanchez. marcus washington is off. >> and i'm laura garcia. let's check in with mike in a bit. first we want to get a look at the tuesday forecast. >> it looks good for us, once again we're starting out with low clouds and fog. we can see it draped over the bay bridge right now. take a look at that cool view at least for the drivers. it is not an issue as you're crossing in from the east bay, headed into san francisco. as we take a look at our high temperatures for this afternoon, we're headed for 71 degrees in san francisco. we'll see some upper 70s in oakland today. 77 in hayward and 92 in livermore. some of these temperatures are a little bit cooler compared to yesterday, so we'll head for 81 in san jose, but still pretty hot in santa rosa, reaching 92. we'll continue to see these temperatures coming down over the next few days with more clouds and fog near the coast. we'll talk about that in a few minutes. mike, a crash in the santa cruz mountains. >> the big map we normally show you something in the morning, but i'll go south, coming up f
