this is a trend that's bad in san jose, kris. >> yeah.finitely been a rough couple of days in san jose. the roadway here was shut down for hours this morning. it's open again, but i have to tell you now with the traffic flowing it is no surprise that this is considered one of the city's priority safety corridors because there is a lot of traffic here and some of these folks are driving faster than the speed limit. let me show you the scene this morning where this crash happened. we don't know if it's related to speed at this point, but we do know it was a violent crash. two people were ejected from a vehicle and one of them died here at capital expressway and snell avenue. the other went to the hospital. an suv crashed into an electrical box. the other car was nearby and a lot of debris in between. san jose police investigators were out here gathering evidence and taking measurements for almost eight hours this morning. it happened just 26 hours after this deadly crash in east san jose that you mentioned in which a baby was killed, a chil

good morning, marcus and kris. sfpd saying their actions very much were justified in that, even the chief, bill scott, taking to twitter to thank his officers for taking action on what he describes as reckless and dangerous behavior, behavior that he says won't be tolerated in the city. all of this controversy is stemming from saturday's annual hill bomb event, a skateboarding event in the mission. it started off peaceful. officers say they received reports of fireworks and vandalism, as a response they set up barricades. police say some of the teenagers were aggressive toward officers, including a 16-year-old who sfpd says spit on an officer. now, the clash continued on. here you can see what appears to be glass being thrown at police. sfpd says the crowd also began throwing ignited fireworks, smoke bombs and metal cans. there was also property damage caught on camera, a group of people vandalizing a money train stopped in its tracks after getting blocked in. the story is different according to protesters. they ga

nbc bay area's kris sanchez has more on the warning from algae to rattlesnakes. kris? >> the weather has been hot, and when it is hot, algae blooms and rattlesnakes. don't let that stop you from going outside, though. just follow this advice from east bay park. avoid hiking alone, and as you are out and about, stay on the trail and scan the ground ahead of you. keep your kids close and keep your dog on a leash. if you see a snake on the trail, just leave it alone and move away slowly. if a rattlesnake does bite, you will know it because of the sound and you will also feel an intense burning. it will be very painful. in that case, the advice is to stay calm, call 911, and keep that bite lower than your heart. experts say don't waste your time on tournaments or trying to suck out the venom like you might have learned in girl scouts or boy scouts. if you are bitten by another kind of snake, wash with soap and water and seek medical attention. if you were hoping to beat the heat, the niles swim area at fremont's horseshoe lake is closed because of blue-green algae in bloom

good morning, kris and marcus.e just found out that san jose police the driver who crashed into this home here has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. they believe he was drunk. you can see the damage to the front porch of the home on south second street and hollywood avenue in downtown san jose. this happened a little after 11:30 last night. the driver in the red mustang crashed his car. again, suspicion from police, they're telling us they believe he was drunk driving and, of course, they are investigating. san jose fire, they put him in a neck brace to transport the driver to the hospital. his hands were tied down on the gurney and at one point he tried to free himself from restraints and, as you see, san jose police had to assist. so, again, fortunately no one was seriously hurt. the driver was taken, it looks like, for observation, but he is now in police custody. no one was hurt here inside this home. unfortunately for the people who live here, there's some significant damage to their f

. >> i'm kris sanchez. laura garcia is off. more on that court hearing in a few moments. first breaking news out of hayward where officials say hackers breached the city of hayward's computer system. we are told they first notice that cybersecurity threat sunday morning when there was an intrusion on the computer system. the city quickly shut down the public website and the online portal. important to know, city emergency services like 911 are still operating. city leaders wrote in a press release that there is no evidence that people's personal information was stolen. however, if the hackers hacked personal data, the city says they will contact the individual people. you might remember that something like this happened in the bay area before back in february when hackers launched a ransomware attack on the city of oakland and began leaking city employees' personal information online. that system was not back up and running until two months later. our reporter is tracking this breaking story and will have more in the afternoon newscast. >>> new at 11:00 for you, the man a

as kris sanchez reported earlier, how much is enough or too much water? here's a basic hydration formula for kids. divide their weight by two, that's the number of ounces they should drink per day. if you're someone who works outside or an athlete, kids 9 to 1 need three to eight ounces every 20 minutes. if you as an adult work outside, the cdc recommends you drink eight ounces of water every 15 to 20 minutes. the you can't get a break, up that and make sure you're drinking 24 to 32 ounces per hour. water is a good thing, but you can have too much water. don't more than 48 ounces at a time. you could dilute the sodium in your blood and you could end up in the hospital or at your doctor's. limit sports drinks outside or vigorous activity or when you're sweating a lot because they have a lot of sugar. they'll give you a quick fix but you don't want that much sugar. avoid caffeine and alcohol because they do dehydrate you, which is not a good thing when you're sweating out here in 80 death grow temperatures. live in livermore, bob redell, nbc bay area news.

and, kris, it's just sad. two of those victims children? >> reporter: yeah, so as you mentioned, that baby was killed by that car, but we know that another juvenile -- so either a child or teenager was also hit along with an adult. those two people are now in the hospital. we expect that they will survive. the baby, the juvenile and the adult were crossing the street on king road near ocala avenue in east san jose about 11:40 last night. police tell us the baby died here at the scene, the juvenile and the adult were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, so their lives will never be the same. police tell us the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. we talked with a neighbor who says she's shocked by the loss of life but not surprised by the crash on the streets she says have gotten more dangerous every year in her 55 years living here. >> people cross these streets every day and cars are always trying to beat the light. everyone is rushing, sometimes there's traffic, especially down this
