in the newsroom, kris anderson, 7 news fire in dorchester today. the fire happened at 800 columbia road. both police and fire fighters were on scene. there is no word on if any injuries were reported or what caused the fire. an early morning watermain break shuts down traffic in reading. the break happened on lowell street around 2:00 this morning. traffic was diverted down harvard street while crews work to repair that main. we're following more news today.

chris anderson joining us from the control room now with more. kris? >> this morning los angeles police confirming those reports lapd said it was loud noises to blame for that scare. and all of the terminals were cleared out and then searched. you see hundreds of people here. they had to flee and run out of to the tarmac during this incident. one witness said he heard shots and another overheard a security guard saying that shots were fired. in a statement lax officials say reports of a shooter caused people to rush on to the tarmac through security without being properly screened. one witness said at one point the lights went off at the terminal a told to shelter in place. in fact, nbclester holdt was at the airport during his commotion. his airplane had just touched down. we're about to walk up the stores the door opened people were flooding out. passengers security people. people heard pop or shots. other people like heard nothing but run and saw the crowds and reacted in the appropriate manner as you would in a situation like that. >> passengers ha

that's where kris anderson is this morning. what's it looking like there? >> what a difference a few hours make. walker street back open. you don't see debris mind me. earlier this morning. totally different scene when those storm rolled through overnight. this road was covered by part a huge tree. cleanup is under way in marlboro after severe storm caused some damage and left thousands of people without power early this morning. >> its quite windy and rained hard. not for very long. it was very, very quick. the storm roll through around 3:00 a.m. monday. just heard a noise and loud bang and like the house shook. and then the power blew and i said, oh, well someone must have hit a pole or something. that was 120-foot section of pine tree that came crashing down on walker street. >> that tree could have hit the house. i think the wires headlined it up. i really co. i heard a crash. but i didn't know. the national weather service will be in a look at the damage and figure out if it was indeed a tornado that tore through the area. >> if that all the damage it

in the newsroom, kris anderson, 7 news. >> anchor: new details now on a deadly zip line accident. the company that course where a 59-year-old woman fell to her death on wednesday said the woman unhooked herself from a safety harness. the woman was standing on a pratt form 35 feet above the ground when she fell. she was rushed to a hospital where she later died. the company inspected the course and said no equipment on the course was broken. one of the men convicted of killing a mother and her two daughters in cher iron, connecticut tried to take his own life. the department of corrections says this man, joshua, tried to he did not require medical attention but is currently receiving mental health treatment. now that man and stephen haze were convicted of killing a woman and her two daughters during a home invasion back in 2007. both men are serving life sentences. >> anchor: a plane cashes into a home in indiana. police say the single engine plane was trying to land at an airport when it clipped a tree and slammed into the roof of this house. no one was inside at the time in the h

kris anderson has the breaking details. kris? >> kris: amaka, good morning. police would love to track down whoever is responsible for shots being fired on page street in dorchester this morning. we have confirmed that one female victim was shot and a dog was shot, as well. it all happened around 1:00 a.m. the initial call came in that it was on mcclellan street, which is right next t p right here on page street in dorchester. we still don't know the age of the victim who was shot here. but police have had... did have the area taped off early this morning while they were investigating the scene. we also mentioned the dog that was injured during this shooting. the dog is being put into a police cruiser with his leg taped up. it appears the dog is going to be okay. that's some good news for the dog. no report on that victim's condition here this morning. now, as far as the situation surrounding the shooting, police escalated to that point. they believe it may be connected to a fight that happened in this area earlier this morning. that's the latest live here in
