at tuesday's meeting, the commission's vice chairman kansas secretary of state kris kobach also claimedew hampshire's 2016 election results were tainted by people flooding across borders to cast ballots there. kobach was reiterating a false claim he also made in a recent article for the far right news outlet breitbart, where he is a paid columnist. in the article, he claimed voter fraud elected democratic senator maggie hassan, who beat out republican kelly ayotte, citing people using out-of-state licenses as evidence. in fact, new hampshire allows residents who have out-of-state licenses, such as college students, to vote. many residents without a state licenses who voted legally have come for to refute kobach austria's claims. his false claims drew criticism both from the host of tuesday's meeting, new hampshire secretary of state bill gardner, as well as maine secretary of state matthew dunlap, who called the comments absurd. >> making this an equation that somehow people not updating their drivers license is an indicator of voter fraud would be almost as absurd as saying that if you

kris kobach has long had a program called cross-check where he under the name of stopping mass voter purge is trying to cross compare to ensure there aren't double voters or people voting twice in the same election and the like, and while that's obviously a noble cause, that database has an extremely high error rate. so much so that states like oregon and florida took themselves out of that database because of the error rate. the danger is that whatever database gets collected, that it will then be used as grounds to purge voters unlawfully off the roles without sufficient checks and guard rails around that. the initial letter also went out without any guard rails about how that data could be used or stored, who would have access to it and in an age where we're so deeply concerned about hacking into our election, having the centralized database on a white house computer certainly does not assuage those concerns, it's why you saw people like general mckenzie write an op ed about the national security dangers of this. i think there's a lot of concerns right now about how this data is g
