this past week a republican state legislator in kansas who is supporting republican candidate kris kobach for governor this year, this republican state legislature just got dinged, just got a whole bunch of unfavorable press statewide for a facebook posting in which he said this, quote, make sure you know when to vote. republicans, vote november 6th. democrats, vote november 8th. so republicans vote on election day. democrats vote two days after that, says republican kansas state lawmaker. and maybe that's a joke, right? maybe it's an honest mistake. maybe it was a printing error, a typo. who can tell, right? these things seem to happen a lot. but maybe they're all just innocent. when it comes to republican congressman lee zeldin in new york, this time we can tell for sure that it wasn't a mistake because in lee zeldin's case, after sending out a mailer in his district in 2016 that told people to absentee vote after the deadline had passed, he did that in 2016. now in 2018, lee zeldin has just done the exact same thing again, which is actually sort of making it easy for the local paper in

he got it from republican secretaries of state like kris kobach in texas, like brian kep in georgia who are now running for governor to be the chief officials in their state. this is really, really serious. these guys who gave trump this massive lie are on the ballot in 2018. >> and so a lot of this is what affects the turnout, even though it's one step behind what people know. i want you both to stay with me. we want to broaden this out a little bit. we're talking about disenfranchiseme disenfranchisement. there are other practices that are totally legal and have an impact. the united states is one of the only countries where election is on a workday, which if you have a normal job, it's tough to get to the polls. the blue point brewing company has this effort to make election day a national holiday. they've put the petition right on their cans of beer and give their own workers a day off. to broaden this conversation, i want to bring in the cofounder of the brewing company behind this effort, mark burrford. thanks for being here. >> thank you for having me. >> you want to make sure it

vote to send kris kobach to the governor's mansion and vote to send steve watkins to congress.e'll always vote for trump. a vote for republicans is a vote for lower taxes, less regulation and more products made right here in the usa finally. we want it made here. it's a vote to respect our borders. respect our constitution, and respect the heroes of law enforcement. that's what they are. they are our heroes. and a vote for republicans is a vote to reject the democrat politics of anger and division and disruption and reclaim america's true heritage and righteous destiny. we are losing that with these crazy loco people. to everyone in this room tonight, that's a lot of people. to he citizen watching across our land. this is your time to choose. it's a time to choose whether to turn backward to the failure and frustration of the past, or whether we continue forward into a future of american greatness. [cheers and applause] it's not up to the media. it's not up to the pundits. it's up to you to decide your fate. and remember this, what happened in 2016 and what's happening even mor

that's kansas where you have kris kobach, secretary of state. in north dakota this is about high key heitkamp. 23,268 people, 4% of the state's population. how important is the native american community to heidi h e heitkamp's election, is that what this is about, oj? >> in my opinion, yes, it is because the legislature didn't start changing the requirements until her win in 2012. it was 2013 when the action started requiring different things on the id. but what's really strange in this case is that during the primary the id that native americans had in north dakota were perfect. you could use that, they went and voted, and then comes the general election and everything changes, all of a sudden they require physical addresses in order to be eligible to vote. >> all right. let me come to the panel. let me come to the panel here at the table. because, you know, it is uncanny that you have -- president obama wince the election, and then all the sudden the john roberts supreme court says we don't need the voting rights act anymore, racism is over, l

my question is, under president commission for fraud, for voting fraud, i think it was headed by kris kobach, and what i understood from that, if there was going to be some place to really get to something to figure out if there's huge fraud going on, that would be the commission that would find it. from what i understand, they would not find anything or at least didn't release anything, and i think they are disbanded now. host: kristin, then john. the election integrity commission has been disbanded. president trump signed an executive order dismantling that commission that really was elected for one purpose, to promote and lay the groundwork for a lot of these voter suppression efforts. we filed litigation against the commission. it was unlawful, and the administration had no choice but to shut it down. i hope is that we can see a justice department that is and reinvigorated, and commit itself to once again in forcing the voting rights act and addressing the barriers that many minority communities face across the country. talked about native americans in north dakota who don't have ids wit
