and we continue our coverage now with nbc bay area's kris sanchez. she's live near richmond, where police there are looking for key pieces of evidence. kris? >> reporter: good morning, brent. this is still a very active, live investigation scene. this is where the suspect was shot dead by chp officers after failing to drop his weapon and menacing the chp officers. the folks inside are still looking for clues, but the bodies have just barely been removed by the corner. the vehicle, the suspect's vehicle is still here, crashed right into the front of the 99 ranch store. now, the two missing women that christie smith made mention of, they're not the only victims in this case. their families can still hope for the best and hope that they will make it home alive, but for the family of the girlfriend of the suspect, efren valdemoro, they know that the worst has come true. she was found murdered inside the vehicle that the suspect was driving, a green acura sedan that's crashed here into the market. chp officers tell me here this morning that she was strangl

in santa clara, kris sanchez, nbc bay area news. >> thank you very much, kris. >>> this morning crews will continue to sift through 3,000 tons of garbage for any sign of a missing hercules man. today will be the sixth day in a row that police officers and volunteers searched the keller canyon landfill in pittsburg. they're looking for 35-year-old frederick sales who's been missing since august 28th. police believe he may have been murdered by 38-year-old efren valdemoro, who was shot and killed by chp officers in richmond. valdemoro is linked to the death of three people, including sales' elderly father. >>> this morning, lawyers will try to reduce the bail of a man who police say could possibly be involved in that east bay killing spree. 72-year-old charles rittenhouse is charged with possession of chemicals used to make explosives. his wife, 63-year-old segundia allen and her friend, 60-year-old marcia smart were found dead in his vallejo home on august 31st. police say he's a person of interest, but they've not charged him with any crime related to their deaths. >>> a florida churc

i'm kris sanchez. federal investigators and the people who survived the san bruno blast will return to the nabd this morning looking for the same thing. answers to how could this happen. we have live team coverage today in the bay's bob redell has a story of the people who live there and lost so much but we begin with christy smith with the latest. >> reporter: good morning to you. you know, ntsb investigators are beginning their work but they have already met with pg&e for sometime and they asked for an extensive history of this pipeline. things like excavation work around it that may have perhaps damaged it. but they say it will take time to get to the bottom of why this pipeline exploded and the fire that followed it leveled a neighborhood. here's what we know t. 30-inch gas pipeline was installed in 1956. investigators will send part to a lab in washington, d.c. for analysis. the toll is staggering, four dead, 52 people injured, seven people hospitalized with critical burns and there are still thre

i'm kris sanchez here with craig herrera with a look at the forecast. s going to be nice and toasty. >> absolutely today and more so tomorrow, kris. today and tomorrow two warmest days, people out enjoying the sunshine. not a whole lot of fog this morning. patchy fog along the coast from san francisco through sunnily veil. but most of that is in through the hills and as we go through 10:00, most of it is gone. 44 in santa rosa, not a lot of cloud cover to track the heat in. from san rafael to sonoma, lots of 50s for the rest of the bay at or about bay area. sunshine today and patchy fog along the coast. not a whole lot. with this ridge in place, the winds are coming out of the north today, so we're going to clear out early and warming up more and as this ridge gets stronger and moves to the east tomorrow. tomorrow we actually warm up with the offshore winds coming through, so the winds tomorrow become more northeasterly, and at that point we see more 90s. and at the beaches, we're in the 70s tomorrow. so very nice weekend way -- a way to end to this week

i'm kris sanchez here with craig herrera.bout the weather on the holiday weekend. >> you got the long weekend, ready to go. what's going to happen. you got the fog. by monday it's gone. the beaches, 70s by monday. today nice. 60s out along the beaches, it's going to take time for the sunshine. we're at about 50 in novato. 50s all over the bay area. here is the satellite and there are changes that happen on wednesday, cold air is coming in. for now, this big ridge of high pressure is keeping us warm. it will stay with us at least through monday. and again we'll wake up to clouds and fog each morning. monday with the off shore returns, not strong but enough to give us some mid and upper 90s and the warmer spots 70s at the beaches. that is monday. here's the forecast for today. 65 san francisco, low to mid 80s for the north end of the bay, low to mid 90s from concord all the way to livermore and about 80s from fremont down to san jose. a couple of low 90s for gilroy, morgan hill, san martin, up in through the peninsula into the
