nbc bay area's kris sanchez is live in hayward with the latest development. this is very difficult for the family, and they just don't want to believe these dead at this point. >> reporter: no, they really don't want to believe that, and they responded angrily and frustration that 11 days after michelle le disappeared, police are saying they have compelling evidence that she is no longer alive. if they know where her body is, they have not revealed that to the family just yet. the family responded this afternoon, vowing not to give up hope of finding her alive. the hayward police say blood evidence in her car, surveillance video, interviews with more than 25 people and information they found in five search warrants provide the compelling evidence. le's father says only one thing will be compelling enough for him to believe that his daughter is gone. >> yeah, i want to see the body. i mean, they can't just tell me, oh, they find something, you know, something and say that she's dead. you know? and we don't believe that. and nobody believes that. >> reporter: s

in san jose, kris sanchez, nbc bay area news. >>> last week the deadly amtrak crash and now the first lawsuit. a nevada judge handling the lawsuit issued an order to protect all evidence at the crash site. lawyers for the plaintiff, alexander curtis, are behind the order prohibiting the destruction or disposal of any evidence related to last week's fiery collision. curtis, who was working on the train as an attendant, is seeking at least $10,000 in general damages from the trucking company that employed the truck driver who drove his rig through the crossing gates and into the california zephyr 70 miles east of reno. the john davies trucking company has yet to comment on the lawsuit. >>> many called her the iron maiden of the rails. the train conductor killed during the deadly crash last week in nevada will be honored here in california. 68-year-old laura lee was the first victim identified after friday's deadly collision with that big rig truck. lee's family is organizing a public memorial this weekend at the california state railroad museum in sacramento. she lived in concord for ye

as kris sanchez reports, today was how about maria esther orozco is remembered and what's next for the man accused of killing her. >> reporter: she arrived in a white casket at our lady of guadalupe church peacefully and handled with dignity by people who knew her kindness and her smile. in times like these, families often ask us for privacy, but this family welcomed this at the funeral to make sure people know she deserved better than what she got. >> she just want her not to be forgotten and, you know, for justice to be done to such a brutal crime. this was so brutal. >> reporter: sunnyvale police say this man, 47-year-old feliciano santiago of santa clara killed her june 4th at the sunnyvale home where he was doing work. police found her body in a garbage bag with five blocks away at 10:00 the next morning. the coroner said she died from massive head trauma. >> i shouldn't say it, but i think he deserves -- for what he did to her, i hope he pays for this in prison the same way. >> reporter: her niece is struggling with one of the things that her aunt was known for, forgiveness. >> m

i'm kris sanchez, jeff ranieri has a full look at that forecast. >>> after that fog clears you'll havey of sunshine for today. you'll still stay cool at the coast with plenty of 60s. and for sunday we'll see the same thing with a mix of 70s and 80s and the afternoon sunshine, and we are even looking at the possibility of some showers in our seven-day forecast. specifically for saturday, we'll find those upper 70s and low 80s inland with partly cloudy skies. and for sunday, those numbers will get even just a little bit warmer. as for today, 81 in los gatos. 71 in santa cruz. 68 in san francisco. and upper 70s and low 80s for the north bay. if you're headed out to the east bay, maybe to the alameda county fair in pleasanton, temperatures near 80 degrees by 3:00 p.m. and at the fair it runs pretty cheap with tickets at about $10 if you are going to be out in alameda, and it's running right until july the 10th. all right, on your seven-day forecast, it looks great for the pride festivities this weekend as well, with those low 70s in san francisco, and then we'll be monitoring those possibl

nbc bay area's kris sanchez is in the newsroom for us with the very latest on the budget for the fiscal year that begins on friday. voters won't get a say on those tax extensions at all. >> no, not at all. in fact it wasn't until last night governor jerry brown finally threw in the towel and said he knew he would not get the four republican votes he needed to put the tax extensions before the voters in the fall. he got that last text message last night and he knew it just wasn't going to happen and that is something that californians did not want to hear. this woman just put her new vehicle registration on her car, which cost her about $340. the temporary increase in that fee expires thursday, since governor jerry brown could not get the four rip votrepublican votes needed. >> i don't understand why the state is broke. they say it's broke but it's the silicon valley and people earn so much but for some reason i don't know where the funds are going. >> reporter: this woman is just as frustrated. she blames lawmakers for not only holding up the budget but her education as well. >> this se
