kris sanchez joins us now live near that closure. chris, any road when the highway is going to reopen? optimism so far this morning? >> well, the hope was to have it open by 5:00 and then we were told by the chp they were hoping to have it a little earlier than that. but take a look at the freeway behind us. we can see some traffic flowing on to the southbound lanes of highway 101 here near marsh road where we are this morning. still those lanes of traffic in the northbound direction are shut down. we can tell you what it looked like before this. the road was completely flooded out and folks could not get through at 11:00 the chp had to call it, shut down the freeway in both directions and the officer that we talked to said it was just an absolute mess. he said people barrelling on the freeway, driving too fast for conditions and really kind of a scary situation for crews that had to work out there and also the law enforcement had to kind of police the roadways, keep folks off. the detour is a long one. if you have to leave in the ne
