kris sanchez is on the scene. kris, what are you seeing?it's ten acres for sure but now it's completely out. the firefighters made very fast work of this one. it was a bit of surprise to us as we got here. let me show you what's happening. you can see some of the fire crews there behind us there. they are still mopping up and doing some containment work but the fire is out. the fire was on both sides of the road, socal fire and san jose fire worked to the to put it out. but you can see why this was such a concern. the fire was raging for a moment there. and there were -- it was very visible because it was on the hillside. it was running up one side of sierra road and then down sierra road and toward allen rock park. that would have been very dangerous because that is a more populated area. the concern here is at night there is no air support so all the water for the firefight had to be trucked in. the water tinders came in and brought in that water and that's how firefighters were able to make quick work of that. and because the wind condit

. >> let's get right to "today in the bay's" kris sanchez live. there is a scene behind you, some sort of late night crash. >> right. we do know there was a police and fire response here to an accident at the westfield oak ridge mall in south san jose. we have a photo from a witness who says he believes it is because a chimd was struck by a car here in this parking lot. we did confirm they responded to an accident here but they say this is now an investigation for the san jose police. police were here as well. did not confirm what the witnesses reported about the child being struck by a car here. we reached out to westfield management and have not gotten a response back. emergency crews responded around k9d 30 last night at which point this parking lot which faces a number of restaurants and movie theater would likely have still been busy. the main roadway on the side of the mall is blossom hill. traffic will not be impacted. as we get more information we will be sure to bring that to you throughout the morning. in san jose, kris sanchez, "today i

today in the way kris sanchez is joining us live where it all ended with the information you just got from police. kris, good morning >> it did start at another city. it was in the parking lot of a toys "r" us in hayward. that's where the chase started this morning with an armed robbery. we see skid marks on to east 14th street and then there was a crash into this pedestrian guardrail where the suspects took it out as they crashed and injured themselves. hayward police told news the last hour this all happened around 1:30 this morning when the suspects allegedly held a woman up at gunpoint in that parking lot of the toys "r" us store and then stole her car. police say the suspects allegedly car jacked her, took off, officers started pursuing the vehicle. the driver went from hayward through san lorenzo into san leandro and police approached with guns drawn because they weren't sure where wl the three suspects were armed with the weapons that they used the alleged armed robbery. when the car crash into the pedestrian guard tail and the curb here, the suspects were injured. they were ta

. >> "today in the bay's" kris sanchez is live in san jose where another "spare the air" day is in effectu can really see it, kris. >> reporter: you can. the sad thing is that it does make for beautiful sun rises but the air quality is so bad that people who have sensitive systems are going to have a hard time today, maybe even want to stay inside. it's no wonder that this fire was visible, take a look at this picture we found from nasa. it is the monterrey county fire that's putting up so much smoke you can see it from that satellite. the plume there in the mid is the smoke drifting up from the soberanes fire. you didn't have to have a satellite yesterday. it was clinging to the san jose skyline. to the north, polluting the views of the bay bridge. the golden gate bridge and other landmarking. cal fire experts predict that 16,000 acre fire will continue to grow. they don't expect to contain it until august 575th. today is a "spare the air" day. it is second one in a row and the tenth of this year. the wildfire smoke is combining with vehicle ek hawess. that's part of the problem. the oth
