(sot) the one thing pilots should not do is that, so it's pretty unthinkable. shortly after 8 am wednesday morning... tsa officers noticed the pilot... 38-year old russel duszak... smelled of alcohol. gave him a breathalyzer test... confirming a blood alcohol level above the legal limit for pilots... point oh-four-percent. another pilot was found to take his place. (barbara larsen / passenger) so hopefully they come up with some kind of checks and balances instead of just a tsa officer just smelling it on their breath. duszak was arrested... released on a 300-dollar bond... and put on administrative leave. the rapid city police chief tweeted: "the system worked the passengers safety was not compromised." the faa says the number of so-called "pilot alcohol violations"
