kris van cleave has the story. >> for ronnie hooks it was supposed to be a day of celebration. he was about to become an at his church his family was arriving from oklahoma city. it all changed when a semidriven by a 76-year-old rolled on three cars, killing ten including ronnie's parents and two brothers. >> i was on the phone with them when it happened that day. the phone went dead. >> reporter: it remains the deadliest crash in oklahoma's history. highway patrol lieutenant, investigated the accident. >> do you think his age played into that at all? >> i do. aware of later on, played a factor in that. >> reporter: as the head of the state accident investigation unit he know tisd increasing number of crashes involving elderly commercial drivers. >> industry is looking for truck drivers. a shortage in truck drivers. they won't self regulate. only way that could be done is on the federal level. >> reporter: this august a new jersey transit bus was t-boned by another bus driven by a 70-year-old. days later a truck driven by 74-year-old slammed into traffic in binghamton, new york

kris van cleave has more. >> reporter: loretta conley just got her luggage, hours after she arrived in it's annoying, it's definitely frustrating. we're actually heading somewhere else tomorrow. >> reporter: last year, more than 23 million bags were mishandled worldwide. but delta is now using this new $50 million system to give fliers realtime tracking of bags with cell phone alerts and even a map to show a bag's current location. these luggage tags have a small radio frequency identification or rfid chip which is scanned as the bag moves through the system and on a plane. if this turns red that means that bag does not belong on this flight. delta president bill lynch. >> we believe this has had a 5% to 10% reduction in the number of mishandled bags in our system. >> reporter: american already notifies fliers when their bags are loaded or unloaded on a plane. alaska updates through the airport's mobile app and lasts for two years. the industry believes airlines can save up to $3 billion over the next seven years with this new technology. delta's new luggage system is being rolled out

our transportation correspondent kris van cleave is following this. kris, what's the latest? >> scott, the deceased is 52-year-old michael winchester. the shooting happened near a park garage away from the terminal a at will rogers world airport this afternoon. while heavily armed officers searched the parking garage, cochlea homa city police locked down the airport, stopping up on flights. police have not identified the suspect but say the man is in a vehicle in the airport parking garage. he is surrounded. his condition is unclear. we do know that officers are reviewing security camera video and police have begun moving people out of the airport. will rogers handles about 7,000 to 8,000 passengers daily and is served by several major airlines. more than 30 flights have been canceled so far, and some passengers have been stuck on planes. scott, winchester's son, james, football team. >> pelley: kris, when do they expect to get the airport up and running? >> reporter: well, the police investigation is still going. the city has shut downtown airport, so as soon as police relea
