norah. >> o'donnell: kris van cleave, thank you. we're going to turn now to a very disturbing story from florida's broward college city of lauderhill. police are looking to question a mother after the bodies of her nine- and seven-year-old daughters were found in a canal. cbs' manuel bojorquez is there. >> reporter: tonight, police in lauderhill, florida, announced they have a person of interest in the deaths of two sisters who were found floating in a canal, and that person is their own mother, tinessa hogan. >> she was contacted by police. she is not in the community right now. >> reporter: they've identified the sisters as nine-year-old destiny and seven-year-old daysha.nine-year-old destiny and seven-ye neighbor lawana johnson discovered one of the bodies. >> it shocked me. i froze. then i started to cry. >> reporter: the gruesome discovery happened around noon yesterday. destiny's body was found first, and about eight hours later, het sister's was discovered about 500 feet away in the same canal. witnesses say she was wearing f

kris van cleave has the story from reagan national airport. >> reporter: people at american tell me thoughshion into their schedule and they just didn't. demand came back faster than airlines expected. people flooded into ampts, computer issues, and it's wreaked havoc for airline schedules. what that means for american, the airline is now cutting flights. it's been a june from hell for american airlines. operations seeing weather disruptions nine of the first 15 days in june, leaving the country's largest airline with a staffing crunch along with mounting flyer frustration. >> this was the only time we could get here. i tried to check in, and they said now we have to wait until about three hours before the flight, which is 4:00 a.m., 5:00 a.m. >> reporter: american will cancel 50 to 80 flights a day through mid july, as the airline tries to build in additional resilience and certainty to its flight schedule. southwest has also been hit with delays and cancellations due to weather, and a three-day series of computer issues. monday, both airlines saw hundreds of cancellations and more than a

kris van cleave is on capitol hill for us. good morning to you. a lot of people curious to know whether the director's testimony mentioned former president trump. >> reporter: good morning, the week started with a major bipartisan senate report looking at what went wrong on january 6th, but that investigation did not look at the role of the former president. during hours of testimony, the fbi director would not rule out the possibility the fbi was looking into the role former president trump played. more than five months after a mob crashed its way into the capitol, fbi director christopher wray wouldn't say whether his agency is probing if president trump provoked it. >> i'm not aware of any investigation that specifically goes to that, but we have hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of investigations related to january 6th. >> wray acknowledged almost none of the estimated 500 people now arrested for their roles in the riot had been on the fbi's radar. >> did the fbi simply miss the evidence or did it see the evidence and fail to piece it togethe

kris van cleave is on capitol hill. where does that issue stand now? >> reporter: well, good morning. a lot of it is going to depend on president biden's next move. we could hear as soon as today what the president thinks about this bipartisan infrastructure compromise, but already we're hearing from some democrats who say they could be a no vote. after a bipartisan group of 21 senators backed a compromise on infrastructure, republicans are calling on president biden to take the offer. >> president biden, if you want an infrastructure deal of a trillion dollars, it's there for the taking. you just need to get involved and lead. >> reporter: the roughly $1 trillion package is about half the size of the president's more than $2 trillion plan. it focuses largely on infrastructure projects and has enough gop backing to pass the senate if all democrats get on board. but some liberal senators may not support it saying it does not do enough to fight climate change or income inequality. >> the time is long overdue that we address many of the long-neglected pro
