kristen welker is at the white house tonight. good evening. >> reporter: good evening. this visit marks a new low in the already thorough relationship between president obama and benjamin netanyahu. they are fuming because they said the prime minister snubbed the president by accepting an invitation from speaker john boehner without consulting the white house. today, speaker boehner says the white house has every right to do this. last week, national security adviser susan rice called the speech, quote, disruptive to israeli-u.s. relations. today, secretary of state john kerry downplayed the tension, saying the prime minister is welcome to speak in the united states. netanyahu is expected to criticize the president's strategy dealing with iran's nuclear program which he says puts israel in mortal danger. according to the white house, the president won't meet with the prime minister because the israeli elections are just two weeks away. now, more than 30 democratic lawmakers plan to boycott netanyahu's tuesday speech before congress as well as vice president biden. tomor

first to you, kristen, there in selma. what is anticipated? this anniversary it must be meaningful. >> reporter: it's incredibly meaningful. i feel as though i stand on the shoulders of all of the people who marched here 50 years ago. i can tell you the understand is just building here people have started to come in from all across the country and there's so much emotion as they anticipate tomorrow's anniversary that they are going to share with this community and of course the rest of the country. just to remind people what happened andrea it really started on bloody sunday march 7th 1965 when hundreds of protesters tried to march across the bridge behind me, the edmund pettus bridge some were trampled by troopers on horse back and it was a brutal brutal scene. it was not until several weeks later that thousands of protesters were successful in marching from selma all the way to montgomery a four-day trek that spanned more than 50 miles. i've been talking to a lot of people who participated in both of the marches, andrea and they say the memo

kristen kristen, any more clarification as to why those talks recessed with a four-day break, so closewe also know that the president of iran president rouhani's mother, passed away. his brother is one of the negotiators and apparently all the negotiators are planning to attend that funeral. but secretary kerry underscoring the reality that there are still some deep divisions here despite the fact that some progress has been made. based on reports from the ground those divisions include sanctions. iranian officials want sanctions to be lifted immediately once a deal is in place with the united states and its european counterparts. they're saying sanctions could be scaled back over time. once it is clear that iran is actually following through with whatever deal is in place. the other big sticking point over the number of centrifuges that iran should be allowed to have to enrich uranium. right now, the number they seem to be focusing on is 6,000. critics of this deal say it should be much lower than that. iranian officials are arguing for it to be even higher. so those are among the key

kristen welker has details. >> reporter: senators pressed secret service director joseph clancy on whether his agency erased surveillance tapes from the night of the latest scandal. clancy acknowledged there is at least one missing camera angle. >> that camera angle we do not have. that's what we're going to go back and hopefully be able to capture. >> reporter: this after several lawmakers complained there are only two tapes of the march 4th incident when two top agents allegedly drove on to the white house grounds after a night of drinking interrupting a bomb investigation. >> that tape should be preserved, and so i am concerned. >> reporter: the supervisor that night allegedly allowed the two agents to go home without taking a breathalyzer. today clancy who was not told of the incident for five days explained surveillance tapes are routinely taped over, but said he understands all the suspicion. >> we don't have a system where someone can erase tapes. but they are by practice 72 hours taped over. and i know that's a concern. >> reporter: at this intersection where the incident occurred,

the agency's new director has only been on the job for one week but as nbc news' kristen welker shows us lawmakers are already questioning his leadership. >> reporter: it took five days for president obama to be told that t top secret service agents mark connolly and george ogilvy allegedly drove into an active bomb investigation outside the white house last wednesday. there absolutely no excuse for any delay with a breach this serious on the white house grounds themselves. >> rep the congressional committee that oversees the secret service is demanding answr joseph clancy next week including why an unnamed supervirdz allegedly allowed the two agents to go home without undergoing field so t as was recommended by other officers at the scene. the two senior agents have been reassigned and have not responded to requests for comment. >> these instances are starting to pile up and starting to have a cumulative effect on morale. >> reporter: clancy a 27-year secret service veteran was tapped to lead the agency after a series of embarrassing incidents includes last year's fence jumper who fo

nbc's kristen welker reports. >> reporter: the new revelations are already haunting hillary clinton's unannounced presidential campaign. as first reported in "the new york times," clinton exclusively used her personal e-mail account as secretary of state instead of a government e-mail, now required. >> this is a highly unusual situation where a high-level cabinet officer solely used a private e-mail account. >> reporter: last year clinton's aides submitted more than 50,000 pages of e-mails, after the state department asked former secretaries for their official documents. last month the state department turned over about 300 of those e-mails to lawmakers investigating the attack on the u.s. consulate in benghazi. then last night, revelations those e-mails were from her personal account. in 2011, clinton told savannah guthrie her e-mails were protected. but today republicans seized the opportunity to attack clinton. >> you do not need a law degree to have an understanding of how troubling this is. >> reporter: jeb bush called for the e-mails to be released, tweeting, transparency matter
