kristen: that is a good point.ng at the numbers from sequoia's workforce employer support. more companies are doing it. 79% are providing metal health support. are they underutilized? kaleana: i would say so. we have the number of flexible work days has gone up, the number of paydays has gone up, mental health support has gone up with 79% of companies offering that. this becomes part of that conversation at that leadership and management level, creating a safe place for people to feel like they can take advantage of those. to have leaders say, we've put these policies in place, here is the way we are going to enable you to take those. that can be leading by example and taking those days, that can be forced holidays or forced days off whether that is a half-day or a full day. also encouraging people, when their work is stuff behind, it will be taken care of, so having backup plans in place, training in place. kristen: thank you. i was injured in a car crash. i had no idea how much my case was worth. i called the bar

kristen: ok.e are back with the ucsf department of medicine chair and his wife who is several days into covid and who is doing better now thanks to paxlovid. i wanted to talk about that because a lot of people are asking about it. you were eligible. what was it you were eligible for? >> i think it is my age. is that right? >> yes, your age makes you eligible. i forget if there's any other risk factors that you have. kristen: how old do you have to be? >> i have forgotten if it is 50 or 60. i don't think it is 65. also, when you look at the list of comorbidities, they are pretty generous. for example, obesity is on the list, but it is a body mass index that probably 70% or 80% of the u.s. public meet that definition of obesity. for a 25-year-old healthy person, it is going to be hard to get. kristen: did you start to like the metal taste you get from paxlovid? >> he totally misquoted me. imagine he is on the others of the door. i've got the mask on. he says twitter wants to know how you feel. i sai

kristen: got it.at the main reason san francisco is suffering a bigger share of this, or there are other factors specific to our city as well? >> when you talk to the folks working on these issues, they blame business issues like taxes , but some of the street conditions in public safety issues that have been top of mind for a lot of residents.i spoke with some of the small businesses affected, and they are complaining about that as well. kristen: whatever the cause, what is the effect on the office vacancy rate for the rent? >> office vacancies are 25%, the highest level ever recorded in san francisco, higher than the dot com crash and the great recession. rents have dipped 15%, but not as much as you would expect, because landlords are hoping things will be turning around, so they are keeping prices high for the time being. kristen: a lot of workers like to live near where they worked, but i wonder whether this is affecting the residential market, do we know? >> yeah, residential rent have recovered

kristen: we have to move quickly. i wanted to ask you, you had a personal story connection in that you are -- your granddaughter, you think her admissions chances at lowell were impacted negatively by the lottery process? >> yes. we basically programmed her to go to lowell from the time she was in the fourth grade. her test scores were always higher than the average school's and state. when they changed the moderate and up to put a lottery base she was no longer really set to actually be chosen by lowell. kristen: i want to mention that i can hear from what you are saying that your granddaughter had high numbers and stats but i want to assure the desert sent us a message responding say that given the ratio of applicants to see no one can say whether or not a student would have got it into lowell based on previous criteria. there are no certainties when it comes to admissions. i hear what you are saying. i want to give virginia a chance to comment. diversity, equity, a big issue for a lot of people. there are different
