kristen sze. >> i'm eric thomas. a bay area congresswoman says she's furious about what pg&e doesn't know about the underground naturals pipelines crisscrossing the region. jackie speier said this came to a head for her when she was shown a piece of pipeline from the san bruno explosion. amy? >> eric, she tells the san francisco chronicle she saw the pipeline herself and the flaws were so obvious it was astonishing. now, jackie speier represents san bruno but she is thinking about the bigger picture here. she picked up the phone and told pg&e's president he needs to order tests for pipelines all over the state. she was not only upset about the workmanship on the pipeline that exploded in san bruno but also by the fact pg&e can't find records on a third of its pipelines that run through populated areas. so in her words, pg&e doesn't know what's underground. pg&e must do some pressure testing on lines throughout california in order to truly know what's going through people alleys neighborhoods. this is all in response to what happened in san bruno in september when that pipeline explosion killed eight people and destroy

kristen sze. some back in homes after they temporarily evacuated overnight after a gas leak. a resident reported smelling gas on 33rd avenue near ortega street. pg&ehut off the valve but that didn't patch the leak. >> we have here is low pressure leak in a residence across the street here. so what we've done is we've evacuated nearby residence come turn off all ignition sources while pg&e crews make repairs. >> and those repairs took about two hours. the residents were able to get back into their homes about 1:30 this morning. >> pg&e is suspending its practice of boosting the pressure on its natural gas lines to the legal limit. the announcement comes after the san francisco chronicle reported the utility raised pressuring on the san bruno pipeline two years before it ruptured. pg&e said it was part of its operating practice to run lines at their maximum once every five years. the next spike occurred september 9th when a malfunction called a surge that coincided with the rupture in san bruno. that explosion killed eight people and destroyed 38 homes. federal investigators however are still unsure about exactly what the calls was. >> 4:32. preside
