i'm kristen sze. >>> i'm eric thomas. a man hospitalized after a spectacular car fire that very nearly claimed his life. rescuers had to cut him out of his vehicle. amy hollyfield live in san francisco with more. the pictures are amazing. >> reporter: not only were these people heroic they were quick-thinking. they used a street sign at one point to try and breakthrough the window to get to the man inside the car. take a look at this fire they saved him from. witnesses say they knew the car was going to go up. they could see fuel leaking. they knew they needed to get the unconscious man out. the question was, how? it took citizens, a taxi driver even officers to bust open the car. one of the officers used his pocketknife to cut him out of his seat belt. the man was unconscious. the captain on the scene said he was one lucky driver. >> without the intervention of the citizens, that cab driver and our members, the subject and a couple others -- the sergeant and a couple others that person would have perished in that fire, n

i'm kristen sze. >>> i'm eric thomas.olice outnumber the protesters. it has been nearly 24 hours since officers tore down the camp and added to the already hefty price tag for the city. amy hollyfield is live in frank ogawa plaza. what is next for the protesters, amy? >> reporter: it is nice to see it. look behind me it is clear. you can see across it. the view is not blocked any longer by any tents or the kitchen, kitchen is again. it has been 24 hours since police started clearing it out. the occupy oakland activists regrouped and were still visible yesterday, hundreds took their message to the streets and marched downtown. it was a peaceful demonstration. it ended at frank ogawa plaza. but, they did not say overnight. only three people spent the night here they did not put up any tents. 10 officers were here all night to watch and make sure the tent city did not form again. the few who did stay all night felt like the police process was excessive. >> all of these officers are necessary to protect this plaza from people

. >>> monday morning thanks for joining us at 5:00 i'm kristen sze. >> this morning pg&e will pull uphe pipe that blew apart yesterday during safety testing. the rupture sent mud and rocks on i-280 shutting it down for hours this is the third known failure during testing raising a lot of safety questions. amy hollyfield is live near the scene. >> reporter: pg&e officials say they are glad they discovered this problem during a test. they say they are going to be butting that pipe up this morning. they don't think this will affect gas service because they've rerouted it to other lines. the pipeline has a three foot hole in it the result of a hydro static pressure test. line 132 failed 3:20 yesterday afternoon. water shot up 60 feet high in the air water and mud ran down to i-280 in woodside near san mateo. chp closed northbound lane for an hour. this is the same pipeline that failed in september of last year in san bruno. that explosion killed eight people. pg&e is testing this pipe because of what happened in san bruno. officials think a dent in the pipe may be to blame in yesterday's

a lot going on thanks for joining us i'm kristen sze. >>> i am eric thomas. the occupy san francisco camp is smaller this morning after removed tents that spread beyond justin herman plaza that sparked angry words overnight. >> reporter: there's still a lot of concern here. it got the place buzzing when police moved in to remove a block's worth of campers they did not go into justin herman plaza down the block from where i am on market street and removed move anybody down there. police still on the scene hanging on to the ground they took last night. last night at times it was pretty confrontational. >> reporter: dozens of police moved in to remove the tents set up on market between stewart and spear streets. they warned protesters and some did leave. those who didn't, seven were arrested. 15 tents removed. this block sprung up recently and served as a bridge between the big encampment at justin herman plaza and the so-called 101 protesters in front of 101 market. ed is occupy sf leaders and mayor lee plan to meet to talk it over. what we are hearing it sound

. >> and i'm kristen sze. live team coverage. terry mcsweeney is at the port of oakland.çç >> katie marzullo is waiting for an update from police and city s. -- city officials. >> we begin with amy hollyfield where there's a lot of cleaning up. >> reporter: they are making progress. this wall was covered with graffiti so were the windows after several attempts of scrubbing, most of it is gone. it is difficult to get it entirely off-the-wall. some of the protesters say they tried to prevent this from happening. but the activists who wanted to cause damage couldn't be stopped. oakland police said they made the decision to fire tear gas and bean bags on this crowd after people threw bottles, roman candles and lit flares at officers. protesters shattered windows up and down broadway and sprayed graffiti on almost every building on the street. the trouble started around midnight when protesters decided to occupy an abandoned building. police cleared the building two hours later. it wasn't until a little after 4 a.m. until the situation quieted down and police left. the group

. >>> and i'm kristen sze. a rally set to begin at uc davis an hour from now. protesters will come from all over to express their outrage over campus police pepper spraying students last friday. katie marzullo is with the latest. huge fall-out. >> reporter: the chief of the uc davis police department has been put on administrative leave as one of the officers involved received an award in 2007 for saving a fellow officer from an attack. there are calls for the chancellor of the university to resign. little is left to interpretation. a uc davis police officer captured on video moving down the line of seated protesters pepper spraying each in the face. when he runs out a second officer joins in. >> police officer said he would spray us, i had no idea that was coming until it was already in my face. >> it was horrible. what it shows is very appalling for all of us. really shows the face for the university that we don't have. >> reporter: students were part of an occupy protest and set up tents on campus. police ordered them to clear out by 3:00 friday afternoon. t

. >> and i'm kristen sze. live team coverage. terry mcsweeney is at the port of oakland.çç >> katie marzullo is waiting for an update from police and city s. -- city officials. >> we begin with amy hollyfield where there's a lot of cleaning up. >> reporter: they are making progress. this wall was covered with graffiti so were the windows after several attempts of scrubbing, most of it is gone. it is difficult to get it entirely off-the-wall. some of the protesters say they tried to prevent this from happening. but the activists who wanted to cause damage couldn't be stopped. oakland police said they made the decision to fire tear gas and bean bags on this crowd after people threw bottles, roman candles and lit flares at officers. protesters shattered windows up and down broadway and sprayed graffiti on almost every building on the street. the trouble started around midnight when protesters decided to occupy an abandoned building. police cleared the building two hours later. it wasn't until a little after 4 a.m. until the situation quieted down and police left. the group
