kristen wright joins us "life" from montgomery county school headquarters. >> reporter: yes, today is certainly critical in the future of montgomery county schools super superintendent joshua starr. the deadline for his contract was extendeded from yesterday. the school board must decide by march 1 whether to renew starr's four year contract. that agreement expires in june. starr released a memo to the school board dated january 22 detailing his accomplishments during his tenure. he cites improve graduation rates and test scores. he also writes that he has helped narrow the achievement gap between white and minority students. the news 4 iteam obtained a school board memo issued during the 2013/2014 school year. board members expressed concerns about communicating with starr. they have denied requests to comment on whether they plan to keep the superintendent in his position. starr has had some not so bright moments regarding the notification of reports of sexual assault school start times and attempts to remove the religious holidays from the school calendar. the president of the pta
