chief kristen ziman / aurora police: "absolutely he was not supposed to be in possession of a firearmrobin ) a san jose u-p-s driver taken hostage during a kidnapping over the weekend is being called a hero by police for helping save lives. san jose police is commending the u-p-s truck driver who was taken hostage and then forced at gunpoint to try and evade police and deputies who were giving chase. it happened at at the south side of a v-t-a station. the vehicle drove off with deputies in pursuit when one of two suspects fired at them. deputies deployed a spike strip and cornered the suspects near first and montegue where the ups driver was released unhurt. the female suspect surrendered but her male accomplice ignored pleas from negogtiators to give up and was shot and killed by police.

(justine) a second man is now accused of murder in connection to the death of an n-y-p-d detective. 25-year-old jagger freeman is suspected of being a lookout during a robbery at t-mobile store tuesday. the incident resulted in the friendly-fire death of detective brian simonsen. another suspect, christopher ransom had over 20 prior arrests before tuesday's deadly encounter. ransom was reportedly struck eight times by nypd gunfire.he is now being held without bail. another officer was also shot, but has been treated and released from the hospital. detective simonsen's funeral is scheduled for wednesday.
