let's bring in kristi yamaguchi.programs, facing the free skate tonight. what do you think is going through their minds? >> really walk on egg shells. they want everything to go perfectly, they've prepared so much for this moment. all bets are off. you have to go out there and throw everything you have on the table. >> let's talk about gracie gold. a lot of people think she's the u.s.'s best chance to make it to the podium tonight. she didn't have her best short program ever. can she make it up for her in the free skate? >> she had a very good short program but i think she wanted to take back a couple of jumps. that were a little bit shaky. if she skates like in the team competition which was beautiful, confident and solid, then i think she absolutely has a legitimate chance. >> what about ashley wagner? does she not only have to skate perfectly but someone else has to falter a little bit? >> i think with this new system it's definitely not -- it's possible for her to get up there. and, yeah, there might need to be a
