kristy seifkin explains what a meeting today is expected to accomplish.y, good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you, frank and grace. a lot of people excited about this idea of finally being able to cycle across the bay bridge but there's one big problem. right now, the plans only call for a bike path that stretches from oakland to treasure island. so cyclists still won't be able to get across into the city by using the bay bridge. now, there is a solution to this problem that involves making some major adjustments to the construction of the bridge. and these construction changes would include building a bike path on the west span by using cantilevers but that would present a new problem in this proposal. a study has shown that the weight of the bike path on each side would actually cause the bridge to flatten out a little bit, which would reduce that clearance under the bridge that ships need to pass underneath it. it would require major structural changes and changes that large haven't been made to a structure as big as the bay bridge before. now,
