kristin fisher joins us live from the scene which is still ongoing. kristin, good morning. >> reporter: good morning mike. well, the victim hire is described as being an adult man and he was a passenger on a metro bus that had been parked at this bus stop on alabama avenue just on the other side of this police unit. you can see that's the crime scene and they've got this section of the street just one block shut down at the moment. now this all started around midnight when this passenger was shot several times. he was then taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. as for exactly where she was hot, we're still trying to figure that out. it could have been on the metro bus itself. it could have been right in the doorway or it could have been just outside. we're still -- police are still actively trying to work through all of that. as for the suspect, well, they got away. we don't have any description about the suspects nor do we have any motive but we do know the metro bus was just taken to the crime lab and on that metro bus are cam

kristin fisher joins us now from germantown with more on the investigation. kristin? >> reporter: j.c., the victim is 51-year-old jane mcquain and the last time -- excuse me, right now, police are not trying to track down her killer, but they're also trying to find her missing 11-year-old boy. in the last -- the last time anybody saw him was 12 days ago. an amber alert has been issued for 11-year-old william mcquain. five foot teal, 85 pounds, the boy was last seen at his home on september 30th. montgomery county police are now trying to find someone who's seen him since then. >> we're hoping to advance that in the daylight hours, today, contact more sources, family members, friends. >> the last time this neighbor saw the little boy and his mom was two weeks ago. >> we kind of waved and that was it. i don't remember seeing her since. >> reporter: the investigation started with a phone call to police yesterday afternoon. a friend of jane mcquain was worried, hadn't seen her in awhile. so, he filed a missing persons report. >> later in the evening, detectives came to he

back to you. >> kristin fisher reporting lye, thank you very much. >>> right now d. c. police are investigating two armed robberies that occurred overnight. the first happened in the 2200 block of minnesota avenue southeast. investigators say that two men took a woman's purse and then ran off. now the second robbery happened at 14th and quincy streets northwest. a police surveillance camera may have captured that robbery. police tell 9news now three men robbed a man at gunpoint. luckily neither victim was injured in those two robberies. >>> and police made another arrest in a string of crimes against metro riders who use the suitland station. 22-year-old michael mcintosh has been charged with a series of armed robberies at the station's parking garage. mcintosh was not the only suspect lurking around the suitlands station because police arrested and charged 30- year-old phillip fleming of district heights with several sexual assaults at the station earlier this month. >>> secretary of state hillary clinton tackled serious questions from lawmakers in her first appearance

kristin fisher picks up the story from there. >> reporter: this block of alabama avenue was shut down for eight hours. it is not back open. this is the bus stop where it all happened. minutes after midnight, a male passenger was shot several times by two individuals. we still don't know if he was shot on the bus or at the bus stop. a metro spokesperson said it possibly happened near the doorway. the victim was rushed to the hospital but pronounced dead on arrival. the two suspects are still at large and we are still waiting for the police to release a description. and metro buses have cameras inside and out. the bus involved in this incident was taken to the crime lab and there is a good chance that the police have videos of the suspects, possibly even during the shooting and that would help bring justice for the man shot and killed here today. in southeast washington, kristin fisher, 9 news now. >> and if you have any information on the case, please call the metropolitan police department. >>> investigators suspect an immigration scam may be the route of a 12-year-old girl's murder.

allows police to arrest drivers whose tags expired more than 30 days earlier. 9news now reporter kristin fisher is live now with more. good morning kristin. >> reporter: good morning. well you know what this law means is that if your tags have been expired for more than 30 days than you can be arrested and you could be issued either a criminal or civil citation. now believe it or not, this law has been on the books since 1937 but it's really only been enforced over the last 10 years or so. now police say hey, they're simply enforcing the laws on the books and that critics should take it up with legislators if they have a problem with it. mayor gray is open to reviewing the law but he's also said that the nation's capital faces unique safety concerns and that vehicles are a possible threat without proper registration. where does the mayor stand? we'll find out today but one thing is for sure and that is that many people are outraged over this including virginia senator jim webb. he wrote a letter two weeks ago to the mayor saying there's no justification for jailing people whose only offense is

down a few days ago will be able to reopen thanks to many of your donations. 9news now reporter kristin fisher is live in lorton with more on the groups that are helping out. good morning kristin. >> reporter: good morning mike. good morning andrea. this is the capital area food bank's northern virginia facility and in just about an hour, we should be seeing lots of volunteers coming here and loading up a food truck full of food and then they're going to drive it down to another food pantry down in dumfries. and the reason for this is because they've been hit so hard in the last few weeks. really the problem is just a surge in demand and a lack of supply. now the food bank is called the action in community through service food pantry or acts. the problem has been a surge in demand and nearly 50% increase. largely due to last month's flooding. so the food bank put out the call for help earlier this week and now, the community has delivered. get this -- in two days, they've received 2,000 pounds of donated food and $60,000 including a $5,000 grant from the gannett foundation. >> this is america.

woman's body in germantown then discovered her 11-year-old son was missing. 9news now reporter kristin fisher is live at the crime scene with details. good morning, kristin. >> such a horrible story. a mother found murdered. likely in her own home. her son is now missing. now, the woman that was killed, we believe her name is 51-year- old jane mcquain. this started around 2:00 yesterday afternoon when one of her friends called police saying he didn't see her in awhile. they showed up at the seminole knoll apartment house. they found her body in her bedroom. no idea yet exactly how she died. there was obvious significant trauma to her body. now, her 11-year-old boy is now missing and an amber alert has been issued and he is such a cutie. let's take a look at him right now. his name, william mcquain, 11 years old. light skin. he's a black male, five feet tall, 85 pounds. he was last seen at his home on september 30th. that's 12 days ago! i asked captain paul starks of the montgomery county police department about why it has been so long since anybody has seen him. take a listen. >> we're trying
