kristin thorne in hampton bay, which got about 6 inches of snow today. kristen. >> reporter: hi there, dave, yeah, sort of deja vu. on friday, the east end got the brunt of that storm, and here we are again today on monday with another big storm. highway. it looks really good. something. they are used to this amount of snow out here. you look at the roads, doesn't look like much has come down: but it has. we had about 6 inches in hampton base and once again, many of the school districts in suffolk county are closed today. the roads, it was interesting, as we were on the l.i.e. this morning heading out here. the la was pretty good through brent good, commack, deer park, and then something happened right when we hit may norville. got -- manorville, got very bad. the plows really have had all they have been a very very good job with that. again, the east end of long island getting another hit with the latest storm, but talking to people out here, a lot of people seeing that they haven't had enough yet. what do you think about the snow? >> it's great. >> rep

eyewitness news reporter kristin thorne live in hampton bays with how they're coping in that area. >> the east end of long island seems to be the lucky one here. it's actually blowing off the trees and power lines and things like that. has stopped. i want to show you montauk highway. still a little bit slushy but they're used to dealing with this amount of snow in hampton bays. >> i think it's a winter wonderland. >> yes, it is pretty, but it can also be such a nuisance. >> are you sick of it yet? >> yeah, i'm tired of that stuff. >> i think it's horrible. i guess december never came. march wants to come now. it's okay. we're all geared for today. >> reporter: the east end of long island took the brunt of the storm. 6 to 8 inches falling in the hamptons. conditions got treacherous as the full force of the snow came through in the morning but eventually the plows were able to catch up. >> i think the roads were pretty good. you've got to drive carefully but the roads are not bad. you go too fast, it's slippery. the plows are doing a good job though. everything is getting cleaned up. >>

kristin thorne in suffolk county with a storm warning has been issued. >> reporter: you get bursts of wind that almost knock you over. hempstead to the hamptons school schools are closed today. this is kind of a side road here. we are seeing the plowing out. the lirr is out. officials say the biggest challenge this morning won't be catching a train on time. it will be not running to catch the train because it's very slippery, you know, up on the platform. just be careful. they want to extend that message to everyone. everything's fine. we did speak with people this morning who were caught by surprise by the storm. >> i can't believe it. i didn't realize it was supposed to snow tonight. >> you need a hat. >> i need a lot of things. >> a hat, coffee. >> reporter: here you are taking a live look around part of the issues this morning and with your we are not going to have the luxury of the last storm, which happened, i guess if you can happened on a weekend. today is a workday. a lot of people have to get to work. thankfully, many of the schools on long island are closed. if you do have to head out, make sure to i'm kristin thorne, channel 7 "ey
