(s/ taylor jones / anderson county sheriff's office :11 - :18) "two students that were life again- a teenage suspect is in custody. armed officers were seen at the school, and were reportedly escorting children from the school to a nearby church. people in linn county are still urged to stay out of the evacuation area and abide by the curfew times. city of cedar rapids saying 2,500 people will be able to homes and businesses today. however, until the river recedes to a safer level, the public is advised to stay out of the evacuation area crews have been working throughtout the night

"the only way to have a chance of saving an entire area and entire neighborhood was to place those barriers where we did." keeping the majority of the newbo area dry-- like right here at expecting significant water- instead minimal water--nats is pumping out of their basement. "i thought we'd have 4 feet of water in here, i thought we'd be down for 6,8 months, we had just three weeks--he says the wall--gave them hope. kwwl's kristin rogers--talking with a witness today--kristin? that's right -- i spoke with a man who says he heard the gunshot--and spoke with the suspects-- while his girlfriend tended to parks-- this all happening just before eight yesterday morning-- a tuesday morning unlike any other-- that's when he went outside-- "one of the girls in the back seat opened the door and said my sister has been shot." but earlier in the morning boike and his girlfriend let the girls into their home. "said they were locked out of their house and were cold and they needed to use the bathroom." boike then remembers parks--being polite--and happy. "thanked me and they were laughing, they were giggling you know just being teenage girls." boike's girlfriend allowing the girls to sit in her car to keep warm--never imagining she would tend to parks there later that morning.
