. >>> let's cross over now to kristin who is live for us in furringson.s still early morning there, if i have got my time zones right, kristin. what is the mood on the streets? any sign this is going to die down? >> reporter: well it is calm on the street now. it is early morning, but don't be fooled there is still a lot of anger here in ferguson, and a lot of tension. we did have hundreds of people out on the streets overnight, despite the cold and increased presence of police. the big difference was that increased police presence, the national guard troops out in force, the governor tripling the amount of people out on the streets, and that seemed to keep things under control. so people here are certainly hoping that the violence will end and that the worst has passed. but there are promises of more demonstrations of a peaceful type coming from the family of michael brown and other activists who are concerned about the issue of police accountability and police minority relations. and that movement does seem to be gaining some traction around the nation,

let's go to -- let's go to kristin welker at the white house. is this going to be a proffer from the president to mitch mcconnell, the new senate leader to deal? is he going to lay out ideas or just jemgenerally? >> reporter: i think so. i think he'll hear like mcconnell striking a conciliatory deal. finding common ground on corporate tax deals and trade. that's been a part of the conversation from behind the scenes for the past several days, chris. the largest questions revolve around the president's health care law. i'm being told that's absolutely a no-good. any changes to his health care law on any level he's prepared to veto. as we continue to discuss, immigration reform, if the president continues to move forward with an executive action on immigration reform, that's essentially going to be a declaration of war. one republican lawmaker telling me, look, what we want to do is pass some measures in a piecemeal fashion, so i think you'll see republicans revive that effort. you'll recall, chris, that's something the house wanted to do after th

now, we have met kristine and i have met to discuss how we can assist her with respect to the issues such as illegal conversions and things like that. and they are already aware of the process, and we will have where we have the joint computerization and we will be able to see those types of complaints. and since, she does not have yet, the dedicated staff to be able to address the enforcement, there, i guess that they are in the process of doing that, i have volunteered that we would definitely do some training with them and with the existing staff and the any new staff so that they can identify what could be potential housing or building code violations just like we do now, with any of the other city code enforcement agency. and be it the planning department, or the fire, and the environmental health and dpw and if we go out and we see the violation for that particular department, we may be even be taking concurrent action and we make a referral to those agency and they do the same. so that is one area that we will be helping them, but again, the current legislation has a tremendou

kristin wright is in gaithersburg tonight where parents are outraged about this. kristin? >> reporter: new criminal charges tonight against jose pineda. now a total of four alleged victims have come forward. one of them says it happened to her ten years ago. >> i think it's very alarming to have something like this happen. >> reporter: former montgomery county substitute teacher, jose pineda, is in jail tonight on new charges of touching students. a 23-year-old woman says he touched her inappropriately when she was a 7th grader at forest oak middle school. court documents say pineda put his hand on her thigh while she was seated at her desk and she and her mother reported it to the then principal ten years ago. a district spokesman says the principal retired, and they don't have information on whether he reported the alleged incident to police. pineda continued to teach in montgomery county. now a decade later, three more girls have come forward. >> mr. pineda today was charged with three more counts of a third degree sex offense and sexual abuse of a minor. >> reporter: a
