kristine: one more point on diversity. the senate judiciary committee, many of us remember back in 1991 when clarence thomas was having his hearings and it was all white men on the senate judiciary committee. it was really interesting this week to see how that changed. on wednesday you had an appellate judge being questioned about several sexual harassment cases and you had female senators questioning this judge about why wasn't this outrageous behavior, why wasn't this illegal? why did you not find this clearly troubling conduct to be sexual harassment? and it was such an interesting dramatic moment because you had female senator after female senator asking this type of question of a male judge who has been serving for a long time. he's up for elevation. but it just -- the dynamic there compared to 1991, when they were questioning anita hill, was stark. someone did a side by side of those two, would you see that at least in the senate, we've come a long way. but what it also reminds you of is you're still talking about, y

kristin, let's set the table. you were talking to the president about his reaction to all of the revelations that top officials with the attorney general, as the headliner here, have all been interviewed by robert mueller. >> that's right. you saw the president try to strike a confident note saying he is not concerned about what the attorney general told the special counsel. but as nbc news is reporting today, we now know that the special counsel not only interviewed the attorney general former fbi director james comey but also the president's intelligence block, i should say. as well as a whole host of other people within the president's inner circle. and according to our revelations, one of the interesting things we've learned is that former national security adviser, michael flynn, when he was interviewed here at the white house, did so without an attorney present and he did so without alerting the president or other top officials here. so a really striking revolution and all of this does come as the president'

kristin, set the stage here. what we're talking about is whether and how the president would actually be interviewed by people from the special counsel's office on the russia probe. >> reporter: that's right. we spoke to three sources familiar with the matter who say the talks are preliminary and they are ongoing. with the president's legal team considering a range of options which include how the president would be interviewed directly by special counsel mueller or potentially his investigators, the legal standard for when a president could be interviewed, things like the location, the duration, potential topics and then this really caught our attention, potential compromises including written responses instead of a formal sitdown with one source even saying there are talks of submitting an affidavit. now, what does president trump have to say about all of this? we haven't asked him directly. one of his lawyers is responding, john dowd telling halle jackson the white house does not comment on kukss with the osc

news4's kristin wright joins us now. kristin, i heard you say earlier you were wearing your photographer's gloves to stay warm? >> reporter: i am. i did bring my gloves. they just weren't warm enough. so, these ones are nice and toasty because you're going to need it. all this evening, take my advice and cover up everything. it's a bitter day to work out side, or even walk down the street. >> it's cold out here. this is cold. wish i had a mask to put over my face. >> reporter: and for those living on the streets, it's far worse. >> i'm the one going to freeze out here and they're talking about it's going to be drop all the way to 10 tonight. i don't know how i'm going to survive out here. >> reporter: kevin waters says he might sleep right here on the street in arlington tonight. he told us nearby shelters were full. we called and they said they'd look for kevin because they never turn people away. >> the lady brought me these two blankets, small little blankets right here. it's hard, you know what i mean? it's real hard
