kristy seifkin is in richmond where police are trying to figure out what happened. >> reporter: good morning. a lot questions out there still this morning. we know that pg&e crews left just about a half hour ago after working all night on a ruptured pipeline that had been hit by a white chevy tahoe. that car accident happened because of a two-car shootout about 11:00 last night here at the 76 in richmond. apparently that car was hit by an assault rifle and we heard reports that as many as 50 casings were found here at the scene. we are told that the men inside that tahoe tried to flee the scene during the shooting and in doing so that's when they crashed into what's called a gas service. that's what ruptured the gas line. now, because of this, guests at the 40 flags hotel next door to the 76 station had to be evacuated. chp had to shut down the freeway for about an hour while they were doing an investigation. now, we have heard one of the victims that was shot was taken to john muir hospital and we are still waiting to hear word on his condition. pg&e crew melamine i spoke to earlier
