" her story triggered widespread outrage from across the political spectrum, including from people like megyn kelly, who pointed out that kristi noem has "managed to do the impossible and unite democrats and republicans alike and the anger for this woman who shot her puppy in the face. the fact that she thought this would make her look tough shows how clueless she is." for once, megyn kelly and i agree. for her part, all through the negative condemnation and criticism, governor kristi noem hasn't expressed rem

kristy and suzanne are back with me. why it is a big deal that pecker was aware of potential illegality? >> it is important because it shows exactly why they structured these payments the way that they did. again, making a hush money payment on its own is not illegal. what makes it illegal, is if the purpose is to influence an election and it doesn't report with the limits that are in the campaign finance laws. so, when they structured the agreement with karen mcdougal, it really was just there and pecker testified to give ami plausible deniability. they put in all this information about promotional opportunities and having her be on the covers of magazines, and ghost writing. they tried to make it look like there was a legitimate business purpose to this when really, all it was, was to make sure that she wasn't going to speak to -- >> okay, i hope you got to the end of that answer. you did it very closely. >> what about you, suzanne, with defense lawyer emile posey? suggested catch and kill, normal practice for the nati

it's a gut feeling. >> kristy, i know you have also done this before. as we noted are getting a questionnaire with 42 questions. again, it digs into how right leaning or left leaning the jurors could be for lack of a better term. when do they answer these questions, and set the scene for us. there are upwards of more than 400 people that are going to go down to the courthouse on monday and some of them may know what they're going. others may not know. that starts the process. >> yeah. so they're going to be smaller groups. you're not going to get all 100 people at a time. it's smaller groups of people asked the questions and run through them. before anything happens, anyone who says they don't want to be seated is going to be removed because the judge is saying let's get those people out of the way and deal with the people who can be fair and impartial and willing to sit and we'll go from there. i agree with marcus. you're looking for things like political bias or people who have distrust of law enforcement. are people potentially think prosecutors abus

kristi, thank you for joining me. this may be kind of like an obvious observation, but how has this trial -- how has this trial just stayed on track? what has judge merchan done that could be i don't know useful to other judges in handling their other cases, or what sets this apart so far as it's really full steam ahead? >> it's actually a discreet set of facts, and every motion that comes up, every attempt donald trump's team tries to throw a motion his way, he rules on them very, very quickly. he disposes of them quickly. he doesn't just sit on his hands like we saw in florida. like in new york he's moving things along. when you have a frivolous motion, it should be that much easier to dispose of. >> it's not just mer. chan, too. the appeals court judge dismisses this thing in 12 minimates. there seems to be a uniform judicial stance trump's attempts here are bogus, and it's widely accepted they are bogus. >> right. and this should take 12 minutes, right? this is, oh,ee has a first amendment right to attack the fami

kristi, can we go back to something you just said? we're talking about people who said they are biased, they can't do it, they don't think they can honestly serve on this jury. i actually get that. but in this case, people who say they can serve, people who want to, couldn't that be a red flag? >> that is why you have 42 questions. this is a very detailed questionnaire and it allows both sides to really try to get to know the people, their backgrounds, their experiences, and most importantly, their opinions and beliefs that might affect how they are going to view this case. so, there are a lot of questions here about donald trump. and again, what charles mentioned about people lying? that is a real concern, as you would have to be living under a rock not to have a strong opinion about donald trump, in one way or another. but you know, how strong is it? are you attending rallies? are you volunteering for his campaign? are you doing things that are more than just casting a vote, for example. and again, i think, given all the rhetoric in

kristi, thanks for joining me. every day, it is like i get a mini lesson. i'm going to have a law degree by 2027. a small lesson and how it all works. the jury selection says, there's a lot about it people don't know. this one in particular is going to be historic, right? just big picture, how difficult is it going to be to select a jury in manhattan that doesn't know that much about what trump has been up to? >> it is fine if the jury knows what he's been up to. you would have to be living under a rock not know that he's been running and he has called the various cases against him a witchhunt but the question really for both sides is can they put whatever opinions they have about donald trump the candidate or what they've heard about this case in the press, can they put that aside and evaluate the instructions on the law and the evidence they are going to hear at the trial, can they put aside what their preconceived notions are and be impartial? that is really the question. you can expect in a case like this and even more detailed questioning of these pote

one of them is south dakota governor, kristi noem. what you do when you run for -- you want to be a running mate, you write a book, you outline your world view and tell your life story. governor noem, did that, in her forthcoming memoir "no going back: the truth on what's wrong with politics and how we move america forward." the book comes out next month. but what we know from the excerpts released by the guardian is that kristi noem shot her 14-month-old dog. she wrote "i hated that dog," cricket was "untrainable", "dangerous to anyone she came in contact with" and "less than worthless as a hunting dog." and when cricket got out of the car and chomped on the neighbor's chickens, she said "at that moment, i realized i had to put her down." cricket was a puppy, a wirehair pointer, that she was training to hunt pheasant. by her own account, she dragged cricket to a gravel pit , and shot it.
