it will kros late this afternoon into the early evening hours. across northern maine some ski resorts pick up on snow. temperatures this afternoon, low to mid-50s in the boston area, close to 60 south of the city and holding in the upper 40s to lower 50s across northern mass up into southern new hampshire. cold air is pressing out of canada and will eventually win out and that will set the stage when the storm system in texas carves it's path in the midwest. it will have a warm front here with precipitation advancing into the cold air in place on tuesday morning. snow breaks out tuesday morning. early in the morning we talk between 1:00 and 4:00 in the morning a period of a few hours of snow and several hours of sleet and rain mid to late morning. expecting a wet commute for the afternoon. the morning commute is going to be a messy one, coating of an inch of snow in the city of boston. west of boston 1 to 3 inches, a lot of towns along the mass pike 2 to 3 inches of snow and a period of sleet and rain in the afternoon. more on the forecast ahead.
