kron four's. rob nesbitt has the story from castro valley. >> police have the road blocked off, but you can see it's still an active investigation. police officers in that area, even canyon road here in castro valley. that's where hayward police officers use their cruisers to force the suspect off the road and into the ditch. the suspect showed a propensity for violence. hayward police were called to this area of gary drive just before 10:00am monday. >> it's where officer casandra full bell says a domestic violence incident occurred between the suspect and his acts took out a handgun and fired multiple rounds. >> in the area that even as he continued to leave the scene by getting into his car. >> and driving away, police followed the suspect down. i-580, eastbound, the man driving at a slow rate of speed threatening officers with his gun. this was a very active unfolding situation. lieutenant ray kelly with the alameda county sheriff's office says the suspect exited the highway in castro valley.

dan thorn kron, 4 news. >> thank you, dan. a castro valley homeowners in the hospital after he was shot while confronting catalytic converter thieves. kron four's charles clifford has that story. >> according to the alameda county sheriff's office, deputies responded here to the 4500 block of sergeant avenue in castro valley just before 04:00am wednesday and reports of shots fired. when they arrived, they found a male victim who had been shot twice in the leg. the sheriff's office says that the victim was attacked after he confronted for people who are tempting to steal a catalytic converter from a car parked along the street after the shooting. the suspects fled the area in a silver four-door sedan. the victim was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay. shortly after the shooting, the suspects vehicle was spotted traveling along 5.80. a sheriff's deputy followed the car on to eastbound. 24 the california highway patrol and the sheriff's deputy then tried to pull over the car, but it wouldn't stop later in the mornin

kron four's charles clifford reports. well, here in castro valley appears that a homeowner has been shot. >> after he confronted a group of catalytic converter thieves. according to the alameda county sheriff's office, deputies responded here to the 4500 block of sergeant avenue in castro valley just before 04:00am wednesday on reports of shots fired. when they arrived, they found a male victim who had been shot twice in the leg. the sheriff's office says that the victim was attacked after he confronted for people who are tempting to steal a catalytic converter from a car parked along the street after the shooting. the suspects fled the area in a silver four-door sedan. the victim was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay. shortly after the shooting, the suspects vehicle was spotted traveling along 5.80. a sheriff's deputy followed the car on to eastbound. 24 the california highway patrol and the sheriff's deputy then tried to pull over the car, but it wouldn't stop later in the morning. the sedan was involved

i'm rob nesbitt kron. 4 news. >> thanks very much, rob. in the east bay, people in crockett have been complaining for weeks about a foul smell. it is coming from the wastewater treatment plant at the cn 8 sugar refinery. it is hydrogen sulfide, which smells like rotten eggs or sewage. there's now a health advisory in crockett and residents have been demanding for weeks that this be fixed large enough concentrations of the chemical can cause problems like irritated eyes treatment. plant officials now say the smell will be fixed within about 10 days contra. costa health officials say the levels are not immediately dangerous as they put it to public health. not clear yet when that health advisory will be lifted >> level of exposure and the duration of exposure really determines the health impact. and although the last couple days it's been consistently going down in the right direction, which we are happy about. it stopped reaching that 3 parts per million that days are going on. so i think we need to feel comfortable it has gotten to a level
