you're watching kron. bay area's suffering after a scrap metal fire at a recycling facility in the east bay. huge plume of smoke there yesterday. thanks for joining us tonight on kron. 4 news at 5. i'm grant lotus. fire crews are still on the scene of that fire at this scrap metal facility near the port of oakland. the smoke could be seen and smelled across the bay area. and officials are saying that the air quality all the way down to near the south bay's taking a hit. the fire started around 5.30, last night at the ships are steel scrap metal facility. that is right near the port of oakland, massive plumes of smoke could be seen across the bay in crews worked overnight to get control of the fire. some good news. nobody was injured and the fire is not threatening any structures. the exact cause remains under investigation. tonight. and even though the fire is mostly under control right now, the air quality management district put out an advisory today saying might be sensitive to smoke should stay inside,

kron 4. sarah stinson has the latest from the scene. >> we're here at the corner of 4th and king streets where a driver struck and killed a 4 year-old girl crime scene. techs are on scene trying to wrap up this area because it's been closed for hours now. we know a driver struck this 4 year-old girl was in a stroller at the time. her father was pushing her in the crosswalk. here and the mother was alongside them. now the stroller was pinned between a pull and the suv. mercedes, the girl and dad were rushed to the hospital after they were able to get the girl out from between that poll and the suv were told the father has life-threatening injuries. we're still waiting on an update on his condition. police say the mom was not injured this crash. happened one block from oracle park at 5.15, an hour and a half before the game started. crowds are really starting to grow here as they do right by the caltrain station. muni police crime scene techs have been gathering evidence. they really concentrat
