the mixup there and all of that phone anden had a krystle campbell's drivers license. way staffersly write in a fine the victims at that point. you can imagine the elation of hearing that your daughter andive the massive attack then just the utter horror. this is michelle. >> michelle is 39. she is originally from maine. she was an equestrian student in college. should competitive horseback riding from the time she was a little girl. sports, was at marathon she was there watching her boyfriend who was running the marathon. just before the bombs went off, her boyfriend had come by, slow down where she was, told her that he loved her and he finished the marathon. he went to grab his bag off the bus, took a shower. in that time, the bomb went off and you didn't hear from michelle after that. he didn't know what was going on. michelle suffered pretty serious injuries. a large chunk of the back every five was brought off -- blown off. her bicep was torn off and she lost 50% of her hearing. she never fell down. that is one of the things that casey and i -- why we focus on he

the first explosion took the life of krystle campbell. 12 seconds later the bomb that killed lingzi lu and 8-year-old martin richard whose family placed a wreath at the very spot today. that second blast also took the lower left leg of heather abbott who in the past year has learned to walk, even run again. she now has four prosthetics including a water-proof one and one for high heels. >> before this happened, did you know how you were this tough? >> no. i think if someone told me this was going to happen to me, i would have been devastated. i had no idea i had it in me. >> reporter: so much strength over the past year. jeff bauman rescued by a complete stranger in a cowboy hat. now he and his fiance are expecting their first baby in july. roseann sdoia sprawled on the street, now dating the firefighter who held her hand in the ambulance on her way to the hospital. jarrod clowery, whose body was littered with shrapnel one year ago told me today the attack had changed his view of the world. >> the bomb is only one split second. of the worst. you know, but it's followed by endless secon
