for insight we're joined by kt mcfarland, fox news security analyst.r deputy assistant secretary of defense. welcome to the show first of all. >> thank you. melissa: thanks so much for joining us. the development with egypt's prime minister is scary. visiting t gaza strip. voicing support for hamas. it seems like this is really escalating and taking a new turn. >> well there are two things to look at with this. one, ey have been at war for a couple days now. hamas on the gaza strip has been firing missiles into israel. now, israel could do one of two things. they could decide this is my clint eastwood, make my day moment and go and attack all of the missile batteries along the gaza strip. there are thousandstens of thousands of missiles capable of reaching israel. that is why israel has the tanks along the border and preparing potentially for an invasion. why would they do that? obviously to get rid of missiles. it gives them options with iran. say six months from now israel decides to have a preemptive strike against iran's nuclear facilities. the ret

jt mcfarland secretary of defense reagan years, and a white house aide, mike baker, president of diligence llc, a global intelligence and security firm. ktyou first. the documents that jennifer griffin reported on live last night you have seen them as well. what do we need to understand about what is in them to help us understand about the decision-making that was happening? >> there are a lot of documents, but the big picture of this. the big take away is that the united states government decided to entrust it's security of the u.s. personnel, the ambassador and others to the libyan militias. and they were not up to it and able to protect the americans. there are example of example that the militia didn't show up when they were supposed to, when they came they didn't bring the heavy arms. one of the members of the militia was taking pictures of the consulate on september 11th presumably not for a scrapbook but perhaps to give to the al-qaida commandos that were attacking. the way you should think about this is from the very beginning the obama administration decided they were going to do everything different in libya. they where are wer
