details next on ktvu channel 2 news at noon. >>> good afternoon. we start this noontime with breaking news. two firefighters have been injured while battling a fire in san francisco. let's get straight to david stephenson in the city with the latest. david. >> reporter: well, tori, i can actually update you now. we just receive add briefing from a pio with the fire department. we've learned three firefighters have been injured in this fire behind me. you can see some of the fire trucks and ambulances that responded to the scene here up in diamond heights just around -- just after 10:30. we shot some video of the scene. it is a home at 133 berkeley way. you can see some of the firefighters standing around the aftermath of this incident. that's what happened at 10:30 we're told a fire broke out, neighbors who were witnesses said three women came running out of the house that you see there asking for folks to call the fire department to call the police. we're told by witnesses that the fire grew steadily. a lot of smoke. a lot of flames. firefighters

this is ktvu channel 2 news at 6:00. >>> good evening everyone. i'm heather holmes. >> and i'm ken pitchet. authorities are calling it an accident. a car plows into a nursing home, killing one person. it happened around 9:45 this morning at the amberwood gardens home on peterson avenue. authorities say a 90-year-old woman visiting the nursing home hit the gas pedal instead of the brake, sending her car through a window and into the common room. at least 10 people were in that room. seven of taken to the hospital, fire officials told ktvu news that one of the victims died this afternoon. a volunteer at the nursing home told our cameras what he saw. >> i saw a car halfway between -- it was halfway in the wall and it just kept moving forward and hit quite a bit of residents. it was pretty scary. >> the driver was not injured in the crash. no word tonight on the identity of the person killed or the conditions of the other victims. residents at the home have been moved to a different area. >>> no official death toll but quote multiple passenger deaths.

a ktvu news crew is on the way to the scene. here is what happened, the fight happened at about 915 tonight at the walnut creek car wash on north main street near geary road. the two people are said to be in critical condition. we'll have more coming up shortly on a live report. >>> and new information tonight about the driving history of the man behind the wheel of the big rig that slammed into an amtrak train sparking a deadly fire. according to the nevada department of motor vehicles, the truck driver, 43-year-old lawrence valli, had six moving violations since 2008, including four speeding tickets. friday's collision, east of reno, killed valli and five people on the train. witnesses say the truck ran through the crossing gate and hit the train broadside. skid marks indicate that valli tried to stop. investigators say they found a cell phone at the scene of the crash that likely belonged to valli. it is now being looked at to see if he was talking architecting at the time. one of the prior citations was for driving with a ce

a ktvu news crew is on the way to the scene. here is what happened, the fight happened at about 915 tonight at the walnut creek car wash on north main street near geary road. the two people are said to be in critical condition. we'll have more coming up shortly on a live report. >>> and new information tonight about the driving history of the man behind the wheel of the big rig that slammed into an amtrak train sparking a deadly fire. according to the nevada department of motor vehicles, the truck driver, 43-year-old lawrence valli, had six moving violations since 2008, including four speeding tickets. friday's collision, east of reno, killed valli and five people on the train. witnesses say the truck ran through the crossing gate and hit the train broadside. skid marks indicate that valli tried to stop. investigators say they found a cell phone at the scene of the crash that likely belonged to valli. it is now being looked at to see if he was talking architecting at the time. one of the prior citations was for driving with a ce

that's where ktvu's ken pritchett joins us live tonight. just east of sacramento. >> reporter: a fire official told me they just rescued twenty people on the american river. so add that to the 30, that's 50 people in the last week. you can see the fire rescue boat out there right now. they are here just having presence because of the high number of rescues they have had. the water is cold, 46 degrees and as you can see the river is very swift. >> reporter: using six boats and 28 firefighters, crews trained and warned rafters of the dangerous river conditions. >> between the swift water, cold water and the lack of awareness people have on the river, we are having serious problems. >> reporter: he says a raft carrying eight people from the bay area capsized last week. >> three went under water and were -- had given up and started to drown. >> reporter: crews were training at this very spot and saved them. today they were warning rafters to wear life jackets. nat warning sent these girls back inland to pick up free life jackets. >> if they had

ktvu's rob roth continues our live team coverage. >> reporter: julie, the area here on berkeleyway is still sealed off. investigators have been coming and going pretty much all day long as they look to answer the many questions as to what happened here yesterday. among those investigating is cal osha. >> we want to make sure they have their proper pte, personal protective equipment and that they have it properly worn. whether it was protective or not and whether or not they followed procedure. >> reporter: firefighters say they have long been concerned about homes constructed similar to the one that burned yesterday. >> a lot of the houses are built upside down. you will have the front door at the top of the house and the dwelling below the street level. as a firefighter, that's the most dangerous kind of way to enter into a building because you're coming in on top of the fire. >> reporter: tom o'conner says firefighters are well aware of what happened in the area back in 1995 the last time a firefighter was killed in the fire. extremely high winds spread flames quickly. lieutenant br

ktvu's tara moriarty has details. she's back now to tell us that officials think there may be more victims. tara. >> reporter: police are asking if there are more victims to please step forward. we're here at stratford school off andover lane t. is where the teacher has worked for the past five years. it's a private organization. they have 13 pre-school and elementary campuses across the silicon valley. we have no idea how old this alleged victim is or if it's a boy or girl. but here's a look at the teachers booking photo. police say 28-year-old phelps committed lewd acts with a young student. she was arrested two weeks ago. san jose police say they got a tip at 10:00 in the morning and took phelps into custody eight hours later. it's not known where the alleged molestation took place if it was at the school or what. phelps has an account with facebook and myspace. information online reveals she's married and has a house in san jose where she lives with her husband and brother. it says she is a specialty course middle
