[ indiscernible ] >> reporter: other information came from his daughter, calling from out of town, as well as his wife on the scene. more now from ktvu's amber lee. what is you learned?ter: i want to show you what it looks like right now. the california highway patrol tells us in 20 minutes they will reomen all lanes of -- reopen all lanes of traffic. two of the three cars involved in the crash are still at the scene. the lighter sedan has front end damage and we were told one man was taken to the hospital suffering from gun shot wounds. we do not know the extent of his injuries, whether they are life threatening or not. we counted six bullet holes in the sedan. and chp detained one possible suspect and another person has fled the scene. no suspect description yet. initially 2-3 lanes were closed but in 20 minutes they estimate they will reopen this free way completely. now -- not before the back up started -- as you can see from sky fox earlier -- [no audio] >> reporter: investigating the shooting. right now i am waiting to hear from law enforcement about what came first. the shooting or the crash. we heard reports that there were shots of gunfire heard before the c

ktvu's cristina rendon is at the scene now. what have you been table learn? >> reporter: within the past hour two different tow trucks arrived on the scene. it may be a while till had trailer is lifted off the car. it happened on a residential street in front of the victim's home. as you said, police responded to the accident around 1:00 p.m. this afternoon after receiving multiple 911 calls from residents. sky fox, you can see a tractor- trailer filled with gravel, tipped over and crushed a car with a person inside. neighbors say the victim was a woman and there are reports that the woman was asked to move her car by construction crews. they were in the area working to improve the sidewalks and immediately after the accident a witness said he and others tried to save the woman. >> when i first came up on it, two guys were trying to dig her out. i said is there somebody in the car, they said yeah. i helped them dig. >> reporter: mese say they will do -- police say they will do an investigation to figure out what happened. they have oredi-- to rediagram the cr

. >> the ktvu fox 2 news at 5:00 p.m. starts right now. >> a 9-year-old boy was rushed to children's hospital in oakland after he fell off the rooof a -- roof of a school. ktvu's katy eustis 69s us now with -- joins us now with how it boy is doing. >> reporter: his mother tells me he is in icu, has back fractures. they will put him in a pull body -- full body cast. he fell through a sky light and dropped 30 feet. a very scary situation this morning when she received the call. he was playing with friends. let me show you video of the boy arriving here at children's hospital. they requested a helicopter transport this afternoon but it would take so long so they drove him to children's hospital. he fell through the roof in novato. firefighters say he was playing with -- the boy was playing with friends and that is something his mother confirmed for us. she was called. she was told he fell and she drove him to the hospital, once he was at the hospital, staff asked paramedics to check him out and he at the time complained of h

ktvu's melanie woodrow with what else we learned about the company's record. >> reporter: over weight trucks, faulty steering and failing breaks. just some of the most severe roby trucking company violations chp identified during inspections. 2 investigates obtained reports that show the violations were so numerous chp was keeping tabs on the company every 120 days. instead of every two years. it was in between inspections during one of the 120 day periods roby trucking company was given to fix violations that this crash occurred. witnesses say it appears the driver lost control of his vehicle and was honking and flashing lights in an attempt owarn others in his path. he crashed into an empty restaurant and died. >> reporter: [ inaudible question ] >> it is our policy to do that. by law we have to give them due process to fix the issues we identify. this could have been avoided if the company made sure their vehicle was properly maintained. >> chp doesn't know if the truck was sited. the reports say the company did not have a preventative maintenance program. chp has seized and frozen

ktvu's christina -- happened there in six weeks. ktvu's cristina rendon with more. . >> reporter: this is spring break week for the school district but the superintendent was in contact with the police chief this morning in light of the third attempted kidnapping of a student. in this case a man forced a girl into his car and had a gun but she fought back. >> reporter: concern is growing for parents and students following another report of an attempted kidnapping. >> shocking. >> yeah. making me more aware. >> reporter: this is the most recent sketch. he forced a 16-year-old into a white car friday afternoon as she was walking home from school. he pulled out a gun but she struggled and escaped. >> i am glad that she fought back. >> the story is lar to two other attempted kidnapping within the last six weeks. all three suspects appear to be similar and each were driving a white car. it is possible the cases are linked and there are solerets between the -- similarities between the victims too. short with brown hair walking alone. each
