we have some developing news from ktvu amber lee live at san francisco general hospital tonight. amber? >> reporter: we are at sf general where at least one of the victim is being treated. one girl and three boys were shot. the girl is suffering life threatening injuries and undergone surgery. around 3:20 this afternoon at june jordan high was letting out, police responded to calls asking for help. >> stand by we are getting more calls from inside, five gunshots heard. >> reporter: police say they initially found three students who had been shot in the campus parking lot and that the teens managed to make their way into the school. >> we went in tactically and cleared the school. we deemed it safe and secure. >> we went classroom by classroom. >> reporter: witnesses reported seeing four males leaving the scene on foot. the three victims were taken to the hospital. the two boys suffered non-life threatening injuries. >> i had to lock the door. >> reporter: she saw and heard the commotion as police arrived at the school. she has lived here for 53 years. >> i was worried about it, y

new information tonight from ktvu's amber lee, in walnut creek.he tells us, this alleged scuffle followed a firefighter banquet. >> reporter: frank, the altercation took place here at the marriott hotel over the weekend. everyone we spoke with expressed surprise about what happened. the staff here at marriott hotel on north main called police for help. they included two off duty firefighters, both were arrested. one of them is accused of assaulting two police officers. hours earlier, the united professional firefighters of contra costa county held its second annual ball at the hotel to raise money for the bikes for tykes charity. >> there was a firefighter's charity ball that ended at 11:30 p.m. the night before. our understanding of the incident is that it occurred at 5:00 a.m. the next morning. >> reporter: police say the drunk guests included lontavious johnson, and andrew desmond, who was not pictured. also arrested was johnson's wife, and desmond's girlfriend. the charges range from public intoxication, to assault. concerning to this walnut c

ktvu's debora villalon is live there now. firefighters plan to be on that scene all night. >> reporter: all-night monitoring for hotspots and the possibility that parts of this damaged church could collapse. streets are still closed and the fences are up but the good news, the church sanctuary was saved. >> definitely better than what i was imagining. >> reporter: staff of first- come regional church got the first look inside the sanctuary. a mess of falling plaster, some electrical and water damage but firefighters covered the piano and or convince. -- and organs. with fire raging crews ran hose through the ceiling to block the blaze. before it could crease into the heart of the church. >> the firefighters did an excellent job. so grateful for their speedy action in containing the fire. so the damage is not worse than it had to be. >> reporter: the fire looked as if it might level the church campus. it started on the roof and raced through the attic of the hundred-year-old brick building. first church is prepping for solar p

ktvu rob roth reports that the glitch causes frustrations all around the state. operations should be running tomorrow. >> reporter: for the second day in a row this man came into the office of the department of motor vehicles to get a license plate for his new car. and for the second day in a row, no one here could help him. the computers were down. >> it's not up and running, they are not giving us any information. i'm not really sure. >> reporter: the city was upset, but there wasn't much that they could do about it. >> i have just this day and i have to go back to work. >> reporter: the dmv posted an alert on their website warning of the computer outages that began on monday. in a statement they said, "crews have been working all night to rebuild the system and get offices back up and running." people could still get services like vehicle verification and driving tests. but those that came here to register their cars or pay fees for instance were out of luck. >> i don't have time, you know, to come every day here. i have so many things to do. but of course, yo

ktvu's henry lee is here now. >> heather, it's a tense call to 911. you can hear the fear and panic in her voice. >> there's someone outside my house with a gun. >> reporter: on thursday that a woman saw someone dressed in black wearing a ski mask and armed with what looked like to be a rifle. dispatchers released the call. this happened just a day after an armed carjacking near danville nearby. the officers arrived and at gunpoint detained four boys ages 12 to 14 armed with what turned out to be airsoft guns designed to look like real assault rifles. no crime was committed and the boys were released. on its facebook page sam are almost -- san ramon police posted a picture of guns and they challenged people to become the real gun from the fake one. >> we realize we're not going to stop kids from playing with toy guns. it's been going on for decades. cops and robbers. i played when i was a kid. we know we're not going to stop that. the most important thing is educate families. >> these boys learned an important lesson. they had real guns trained on the

. >>> ktvu fox 2 news at noon starts now. >> good afternoon. i'm gasia mikaelian. >> and police have set up a perimeter as they search for a robbery suspect. this is happening right now on claurice road. ann joins us live from the scene and has the update. >> reporter: police are still trying to take this person into custody. now, it all started before 9:00 this morning when san jose police responded to reports of a theft in an auto parts store. when officers arrived, the suspect took off running into the nearest neighborhood. witnesses report that the man jumped fences and forced his way into two separate homes. a resident inside one of them saw the man with a knife in his hand and heard him say he had a gun though she didn't actually see one. police have a perimeter set up in the neighborhood. and they are trying to take this man into custody. there is a pretty heavy police presence right now at the scene. and, again, we have residents evacuated from the homes as a precaution. so far there have been no reports of any injuries. we will continu

we get to some developing news with ktvu paul chambers who is on clear creek road where firefighters were able to save a large home threatened by the flames tonight. paul? >> reporter: frank, julie, you're talking about 200 to 300 yards from where we are standing. as you said fire crews were able to successfully save it. behind me there are still some crews down here working. the reason being because of this. let me show you over here. you can see some glows right there, where the fire is burning at this hour because the fire is only 25% contained. now crews say it started just about after 4:00 this afternoon in the 6100 block of dry creek road in napa county about three miles west of yountville. crews battled the 50-acre fire, which was killed by a lot of dry brush in the area. however crews were able to make great progress because of change in the weather pattern. fire investigators say that 85% to 95% humidity with little wind helped them gain ground. that weather will help play a role overnight as crews are dealing with steep brush and vegetation. >> the hand crews are cutting th

ktvu talked to some of the people who are spending hours or the whole night outside. >>reporter: as rain started falling, lines of cars and commuters past this rise where another line stretched around the corner. >> they said it's 3.5 hours to get in. we may not get a bed. >>reporter: people drawn to the only option left, huddled into the overhang to hope for a safe spot to open up in the emergency shelter at st. vincent's, the last hope for those who don't have a shelter bed voucher at another site. >> is a comprehensive effort. >>reporter: we found people earlier putting tarps over a tent, preparing to weather the storm outside. some can't or don't want to go into a shelter program. >> my boyfriend was there for seven years and we don't want to be separated. we have housing and i have my dog. >>reporter: the new department of homelessness and supportive housing was launched in august and they plan to expand the number of beds from 1600 to 1800 this winter in collaboration with the interfaith council. it doesn't start until november 20, too late for this october week

a woman who lives at the house too upset to talk on camera tells ktvu she called police for help for a young man she has known since he was young. her message, the police department and mental health department let her down. >> i would like to think they would have erred on the side of using less lethal force, but more like pinning the guy or something like that. >> reporter: santa cruz police say all officers go through mental health training and the officers that responded were part of the department's negotiations and hostage team. officers were not wearing body cameras. neighbors call it a tragedy. >> i can't imagine being the one of who had to have shot somebody. it's something you live through the rest of your life and it's hard. i feel for the man who was killed, because i have no idea what his story was and everyone has a story. >> reporter: this is the first officer involved shooting in santa cruz this year. the last happened in 2013 when two officers were shot and killed. there's a memorial outside the police headquarters for them. >>> another big story we are following is

the boy's parents contacted ktvu.hey say they were here at the pittsburgh bay point bart station saturday evening. they say the boy went to go use the rest room. while the mother was outside she said the suspect followed her son into that bathroom. this all happened saturday evening. the family was on their way back to their daily city home. the mother says her son wanted to use the rest room and she says she saw the suspect follow her son into that bathroom. >> when i say, my son is in there, but as soon as i said that, he just turn around, look at me and lock the door behind him. >> reporter: again, that mother tells ktvu that she banged on the door and eventually had to get station officials. when the suspect opened the door, she said her son's clothes were in disarray. the suspect was arrested. he is in custody now. as for the 15-year-old, his family says he broke down and told them happened after he had been examined at a hospital and returned home. the family says they're not sure if he will ever truly recover f
