ktvu rob roth has the story. dairy california armors in petaluma caught a huge break because of the drought. many of these cows have been drinking water trucked in from miles away. every day. our farmers are hauling. roughly about probably 60 70,000 gallons of water a day 10 truckloads a day, sometimes to their cows, but with this turn of a valve, they'll be able to replenish their water supplies without going through all that so without this program. those dairies would have had to go out of business. the new water is coming from an underground aquifer that the water district is tapping into through this drought relief. well it will now, said 1.6 million gallons of water a day to a storage unit in petaluma will be drinking it along with folks in sonoma and parts of marin county. this emergency relief well was used during the drought six years ago, but never to this extent. this is probably the largest use of groundwater to date. we have two other wells that will have to also be brought online. but for now, the d

tom vacar ktvu, fox two news. the national weather service is warning about debris flows and burn scars of our recent wildfires that includes he killed or fire that burned in the tahoe basin. now, forecasters say the stormy weather this weekend could bring flooding and rock falls in the steep canyons where the fire burned more than 220,000 acres. crews have been working to try and minimize erosion by the way and protect infrastructure ahead of this storm. there's similar concerns up in plaster county, where the river fire burned back in august, county officials posted this video online. it shows how crews are working to protect the watershed from ash and debris. they're particularly concerned about the bear river canal, which is a vital water source to the area. they've been doing a lot of work to take down hazard trees to keep them from falling down into the canal. they're actually using those down trees and stacking them in a certain way, so they actually become protection for the canal for any other debris that
