jeanine de la vega, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> 880 in san jose has reopened but that was after a multicar crash shut down the freeway for a short time overnight. channel 2 reporter tara moriarty is at the scene of the search for the driver who police say started this whole chain reaction crash. >> reporter: we're just off the freeway from where the accident happened at a gas station where a bunch of the tow trucks brought cars involved in the accident. we want to show you one of those cars. it's a jaguar that witnesses say actually set off a chain reaction. it is very badly damaged. and the chp says the driver of that car ran from the scene and they're still looking for him. this crash unfolded at 2:15 this morning. the driver of the jaguar lost control of the car on 8830 northbound near the baskin avenue exit. he ended up causing four other cars to crash. one car hit the concrete barrier wall. neighbors could hear the screams. they called 911. luckily it sounded a lot worse than it was, according to chp. all people involved only received minor injuries and were taken to local hospitals.

live in martinez claudine wong ktvu channel 2 news. >>> new this morning at 6:35. three people are in the hospital after the car they were traveling in crashed into a water main. police say some tried to run away. ktvu janine de la vega is joining us live from the scene to tell us they have been found and what is happening at the school. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. the school facilities manager here at terrell elementary school is working to fix this broken water main. you can see here they exposed pipe and cage right next to it which is crumpled because a car slammed into it. school will open up in a couple hours. police say some of the people that are inside the car that crashed into this tried to get away. but they have been found. police say this car transporter was traveling southbound on pearl avenue at 3:00 a.m. when it clipped a lincoln town car. that lincoln town car crash into the water main at the school. the driver of the transporter was uninjured. a man and woman that were with him ran away. the man was found injured. lying in the bushes an
