i put that question to the new economic advertiser larry kudlow. and he acknowledged that, look, it could be, and it could be that these sanctions ultimately, these new tariffs, rather, ultimately will not go into effect. so i think what you're seeing is this strategy emerge. when he was pressed on the fact there has been this market val tilt, he said look, the markets are since correcting himself. he made the case that the markets have been going up and up and up. we're going to see this type of volatility. that's something that should be expected. again, he didn't back away from the idea that this is just the president using a very tough negotiating tactic to try to rein in china. you heard him say there, the president is a free trader. ultimately he wants to see growth. i asked kudlow if a trade war wouldn't effectively ruin all chances for growth. and he pushed back against that assertion, stef. i think what you're seeing again is this good cop, bad cop strategy. we'll have to see if it works and if china responds. >> if we do end up in a trade
