and maria teresa kumar, an msnbc contributor. ms. sellers, we'll start with you, i know you just talked to bern bernie sanders. he is in that thursday night debate. what did he tell you? >> i sat down with senator sanders as well as representative omar to discuss this college for all act that they're unveiling today. the idea is that it would make tuition and fees totally eliminated for students who want to go to college and also it would completely cancel student debt. now, that's about $1.52 trillion worth of debt. the difference here is that free college would actually be available to all income levels. and i asked him, because as we all know he's somebody who points out the great economic differences in this country, why should that be available to all americans, is it a freebie for wealthy americans? >> every person in this country who has the desire and the ability should be able to get a higher education and that's not just college. that's the trade schools as well so people can learn to be carpenters and sheet metal workers.
