kumasi. >> the county says it still has to take formal steps to finalize that sale. that includes licensure, state approvals. also, more negotiations on the final sale price. for now, the county and hca agreed on a $175 million price tag. and yesterday, santa clara county made its major announcement that they reached a preliminary agreement to acquire regional medical center in east san jose. the county plans to restore trauma services, along with stroke and heart attack service, and it also plans to restore labor and delivery services that closed back in 2020. hca healthcare, the company that owns regional medical center, announced plans earlier this year to close the trauma center because of a decline in utilization. and then the plans change from a full closure to a downgrade in resources on august 12th. a coalition of patients and advocates fought to keep the community's only trauma center open through demonstrations like this one, with community members carrying coffins. the acquisition

. >> it is kumasi. san francisco is requesting that these rvs leave zoo road by midnight or they will be towed. the city is now offering them help, but it's not a simple process. many gathered outside their arby's yesterday as they waited for city workers who set up tables to intake people. many of these residents left winston drive two weeks ago, hoping to avoid getting towed after the city implemented a four hour parking restriction for an upcoming repaving project. and since then, zoo road became their new home. but last week, the city put them on notice, saying they had to leave zoo road as well. the city is providing vouchers or financial assistance to help many of them pay for housing, but these rv residents still need to find available housing that will accept the vouchers. that also depends on what's available right now and in many cases, some of these rv residents will qualify to get a percentage of the rent paid for by the city for up to three years. >> now, what we have is what we call rapid

kumasi. >> thanks, amanda. san francisco fire department, investigating the cause of a fire in the sunset district. crews arrived to flames at great wall hardware on taraval near 18th avenue, just before 4:00 yesterday morning. the store is in supervisor joel engardio district. he says there were no injuries, but the store's owner, mother and two other tenants who lived above that store were displaced. the owner says he's been amazed by the community's response to the fire, which includes a fundraising campaign to support the business's recovery. >> a missing hiker swept away by flash flooding in the grand canyon has been found dead after days of searching, the national park service says a tourist boat discovered the body of a 33 year old woman yesterday morning. flood waters swept her away thursday. arizona's national guard rescued more than 100 people stranded by those raging waters. >> the power of the water come out of nowhere. we made it out with probably 40 or 50 of us stuck together and helped each other

kumasi will have a map up ahead showing which businesses across the city will be involved. but first, the city says the goal is to produce a number of diverse weekend and evening events downtown through the energy program with this new funding. 14 entertainment and nightlife businesses, along nehborhood organizations, will receive grants. those grants can range up, up to $50,000. now you can see some of those businesses involved here. some of them are iconic venues like the stud oasis and black cat. programing is slated to launch later this month and will see concerts, pop ups, theater performances, drag shows and street parties. the new entertainment zone, proposed earlier this year will also be incorporated through the e energy program. these grants will fund various expenses permitting and event planning, amongst other costs. the hope is for this new program to bring life to downtown and promote business and nightlife growth. mayor london breed says the city is exploring every possible avenue to make downtown an exciting and welcoming 24 over seven destination that attra

kumasi. >> thanks, amanda. last week, san francisco mayor london breed directed city officials to prioritize a new journey home program. this allows crews to offer bus tickets out of town to unhoused people who have support elsewhere, before offering them other city services. the program has been going on for a few years now. our partners at the san francisco standard looked into where people were being sent, so they looked at the data. going back to september of 2023. when it comes to states where people are going after california, other counties here, it's oregon, nevada, texas, all tied for third. now, within california, the top three destinations are l.a, sacramento and humboldt counties. >> more fallout over last weekend's troubled west coast taco and beer festival in san francisco. organizers have now postponed the second event they had planned for san jose later this month, as they continue to deal with lots of complaints. many who attended last weekend's events say they're struggling to get their money
